I remember this house well. The tree in front was just a twig in 1968 though:) The mapper does not show a 7636, it skips from 7634 to 7638. This is the house though because Mitchell and Luwanna Elkins house is definitely the one on the left side if you are facing it. There were no houses on the other side of the street, it was just an open field all the way to the creek. I remember standing out in the middle of that field one night to see the most amazing Lunar Eclipse.
An Uncle Melvin story
October 20, 2008 | Nostalgia | Comments [4]
I was just looking over some of the files that I have on The William Washington Family, and I filed some conversations among Mile Holland, and his sisters, Nancy and Peggy…and Johnnie and me….on MyFamily.com (I think it was Mike’s family website). Any way, Johnnie posted this: Uncle Melvin, in the last few months of his life, thought we were all taking his things from around the house. He went on a tangent about a bucket that he swears Kenny (Johnnie’s husband) took from him, and this bucket is the one that he and Irene began housekeeping with. He told us that she washed the dishes, her hair, and her underwear in it!!! He threatened to sue Kenny for $5.00 if he didn’t immediately return the bucket. I scoured that house and shed out back for that bucket, and I found several buckets that I showed him, but none of them were HIS bucket. But after he died, I climbed up in the loft of his shed and found some old buckets in a stack that he put up there and forgot about. I guess his bucket was in that stack!!!
A Dream About Buddy
August 22, 2008 | Nostalgia | No Comments
I took a nap today, and dreamed about Buddy. You were so young, and slim. You didn’t have a shirt on, and at first I didn’t notice how slender you were. Suddenly, it dawned on me. I said, “Buddy, you have lost a lot of weight!” Oh No!! I just looked up, excuse me….this is not in the dream. There goes a little squirrel hustling up a tree, and darned if it isn’t pouring down rain!!!
That was all of the dream anyway, Buddy.
I can’t believe this. Where did the sun go?? And here comes the wind again. Well, i’ll give an update later.

Thought everyone might get a kick out of seeing current photos of our little Bonnie Beutler at the Hollywood debut of her latest choreography on MTV “American Mall” filmed in Provo.

I ordered all the kids in my class the picture book scriptures of “The New Testament” stories for Easter, and they still had not come in when I left for work yesterday, but when I came home last night they had arrived, just in time. I hope they like them. Remember Mom, you had the “Book of Mormon” stories in pictures before. I have that one but wanted to get them this one because of Easter.

Looking Back

Thought for the day March 21
All is fundamentally well. that does not mean that all is well on the surface of things. But it does mean that God’s in His heaven and that He has a purpose for the world, which will eventually work out when enough human beings are willing to follow His way. “Wearing the world as a loose garment” means not being upset by the surface wrongness of things, but feeling deeply secure in the fundamental goodness and purpose in the universe.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that God may be with me in my journey through the world. I pray that I may know that God is planning the journey.

Thought for the day March 20
Funtioning on a material plane alone takes me away from God. I must also try to function on a spiritual plane. Functioning on a material plane as well as a spiritual plane will make life what it should be. All material activities are valueless in themselves alone. But all activities, seemingly trivial or of seemingly great moment, are all alike if directed by God’s guidance. I must try to obey God as I would expect a faithful, willing servant to carry out directions.
Prayer for the day
I pray that the flow of god’s spirit may come to me through many channels. I pray that I may function on a spiritual plane as well as on a material plane.
My Shepherd will suppy my needs

Climb every Mountain
March 15, 2008 | Nostalgia | No Comments
climb-ev-ry-mountain.mp3 Mtc This song doesn’t fit the theme for the month, in case you haven’t figured out the theme is Christ and Easter, but I thought this might persuade everyone to want to go to Oak Mountain. Not quite the Mountains in Austria is sings about, but we can pretend. Click on the picture and you can see that now it is after Dusk and the lights of Birmingham are starting to light up. Looks kinda like Christmas. I don’t see this view except in the Winter, because the leaves are off the trees.
