EVERYONE: CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS!

I guess I should have mentioned this more firmly earlier, but I set up each account using a rather simple-to-guess password. For security purposes, I would like EVERYONE to change your passwords to something more difficult to guess.
First log out. Then log back in. At the upper-right corner of the log-in screen, you’ll see “profile”. Click that link, then scroll down to the bottom of the page. You’ll see a place to enter a new password, TWICE. Do that, then save it.
That’s it. Be sure to write down or otherwise REMEMBER your new password.
I just don’t want someone logging on as you and then posting stuff in your name. I’m sure you don’t want that either.

I’m getting pretty good at this. I have upgraded the blog software (WordPress) from version 2.5 to version 2.5.1, apparently successfully. At least, the blog is still humming along without crash-ment.

I talked to Casey this morning on the way to work. She wants you to sign her up on this website as “casey” login caseyr, she gets internet at her apartment now. She isn’t allowed to go to “myspace” of course (when I asked her about it she said she didn’t even think about it) She can’t go to the reunion , , I want whats best for her right now. She is doing unbelievable!! She truly is a different person, she has definately had a soul change. She also said she was never coming back to live in Birmingham anymore (which I am all for). I told her I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Bailey. As soon as Bailey is 18, I hope to move as well. I am certain God has a plan for Casey and it will all fall into place. She is exactly where she’s suppose to be.

The problem was an incompatibility between the WordPress software (which is PHP-based — Beth, Buddy and/or Ben can tell you more about it than I can, although *ahem* guess who figured out the fix?) and the Apache web server software that the hosting service runs. There’s a “plug-in” or “mod” for Apache called mod_security that helps make sure bad stuff doesn’t happen to your website. I had to apply a little work-around script describe ON THIS PAGE, and *voila!* everything now seems to work.

Lainie, I also tried to post, but got an error. That may not be the fault of the software, but of the website. I’ll try again later and see what I can discover. UPDATE 04/08/2008 3:40 PM CDT Okay, it looks like it’s a bug in the new version of WordPress, the software that powers the blog. One workaround appears to be using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. Lainie, I’m not sure which you’re using, but according to the Support Forum, some report that the pictures DO upload, but there is an error message anyway. I’ll try it using IE in just a little while, and see what happens.
OKAY, OBVIOUSLY I FIGURED OUT A WORKAROUND. I’LL GET LAINIE’S PICTURES FIXED, TOO.
BTW, the above are Maddie Bounds, Amaya’s friend from Church, Left, and Amaya herself, about to go onstage to do their “Doggie In The Window” number in their Dance recital last year.

I am fooling around with the site layout, which is pretty easy to do, actually. I’m having a problem with formatting the “poll” feature, and at present this particular layout is the only one that seems to put things where they’re supposed to be when I post a poll.

Hi, fellow 1048 bloggers. I have updated/upgraded the site software. Of course, since software guys love to change things around and make them “different,” this means that things are, well, changed around and look different. Sorry, but it’s a necessary evil to allow for better security. We’ve only had a few spams and fake comments, etc., but that doesn’t mean the spam-bots won’t soon discover us and try to eat us up in the future. Love to all.
“Picture Pages, Picture Pages…”

I’m going to try to fix this place up so that it’s easier to display photos on the “front page.” Also, I want to set up “true photoblogging” so that you can take a pic with your camera-phone and have it show up on the page within minutes, no matter where you are.
These photos of the kids are precious. I hope y’all keep sending more.
Lainie, you should be able to go to the “Uploads” page and put the pic of Casey there. If nothing else works, email it to me and I’ll put it up for you.
Love to all (and even to Mom and Dad who did NOT call me on Monday night OR yesterday to let me know they’re safe. For all I know at this very moment, they’re lying in a ditch somewhere. Could someone please confirm they got home okay?)

Okay, so they’re NOT dead - not even in a ditch.
Dad called, they got home last night okay, they actually DID stay in Biloxi, MS on Monday night (putting the lie to Buddy, who swore that Dad would take the room-money, drive through and put it on one of his many projects!)
Glad to know they’re still breathing for awhile yet!

Hi, folks. I’ve been trying (slowly) to ramp up some of the features so the site will be easier to use (and more fun for visitors as well). In a typical blog, you post an article of some kind, and everybody “comments” on it (hence the “COMMENTS” link under each article). But you have to actually go to the comments page to view all of them, which is not really convenient, nor is it obvious.
I’m trying to find a way to have links to all the individual comments on the “front page,” sort of like a FORUM layout, but so far haven’t. I have activated a feature that allows you to have an “avatar” show up beside your comment, and it is working but it will require each person who wants one to go create it on the http://www.gravatar.com site.
Anyway, working as time allows.
