About 1048 Sunset

I guess we could say that “1048 Sunset” represents all of our hopes and dreams, our memories of yesterday and our aspirations for tomorrow, but that would sound too much like Buddy.

In reality, 1048 Sunset Boulevard is probably the one place in all the world that all of the Polhemus-Pagan (or, alphabetically, Pagan-Polhemus) family has in common. Only Bill, the eldest son (yea, scion of a noble clan), did not live there as a child, but I…that is to say, “he”…did live there as a young married adult, together with his wife and first two children, briefly. It was the family home from 1978 until 2001, the tail-end of the second millenium A.D.

All of the other children lived there, and Carmen, Ben and Maria have no memory of any other place. It was the home in which they grew up. And all of us have memories of holiday gatherings and impromptu get-togethers going back many years. As the children grew up or grew older, as marriages formed (or dissolved), as grandchildren began to arrive on the scene, and all the rest of life’s many transitions took place during that time, 1048 Sunset was where we all met to talk, laugh and cry about it all.

We all live in various and sundry homes now, in various and sundry places, but 1048 Sunset is our link to the common past, our anchor in this tumultuous time of…oh, good grief, there go the Buddyisms again!

Anyway, we loved that place because we love each other. So here’s our cyberspace analog to that long-lost home in realspace. Because a part of each of us is there, that’s why we’re all here.
