Going To Visit Lainie Today
August 1, 2009 | Uncategorized
The whole clan is going to drop in on Lainie down in Galveston today, leaving in just a few. We should be there about lunchtime.
This will be the first time I’ve seen Galveston since Ike hit, so I’m not sure what to expect. We’re looking forward to seeing Lainie’s new digs.

Yay! Hope you’re taking your camera, and you’ll make a lot of pics to post of Lainie’s new camping grounds, and also of the kids to see how much they’ve grown since last summer. It was about 13 months ago that we had our big bash in North Alabama.
I think we need to go back to the drawing board and begin plans for another get-together. Any ideas will be gratefully received, pored over, revised, dickered about, and most of all….pocketbooks turned inside out and scrutinized. Bill and Buddy have been OOPW (out of permanent work) for a few months, and that will take some recovery, AFTER and WHEN they get new permanent positions in the marketplace.
Lainie struggles, Jason and Carmen likewise, and Luis and I ditto. I can’t speak for the rest of the clan, and shouldn’t be speaking for anybody but Luis and me. We are tight. But we’ll scratch and scrape for a vacation.

Bill showed up Saturday. i didn’t recieve a call as I didn’t have my phone. I was happy to see them but was getting ready for work and wish I could have been off work to go and do something with them. I was unpacking and getting ready for work. Casey was here as well as her boyfriend visiting from bham. He just came back from Iraq. I only noticed after bill left a poster on her door that I definately did not approve of but other then that it was great to see bill. the house is big and we put a bed in the formal dining room now for guests. It seems to fit as it seems like a vacation house. It is old and has high ceilings but so much more room then an apartment. I have another separate bedroom for storage. their is an apartment downstairs in the house as well. You go up stair to get to my nice porch. I love to sit out there and watch the neighborhood. the house reminds me of the house we had in southside when we first moved to birmingham from california.

I’m glad you like your new home, Lainie. Bill said it reminded him of the house in southside, too.
I was finally able to go back to the temple today, after being out for a month, because of the surgery on my toe. It’s still all swollen up and red, and I probably shouldn’t have gone, but I just couldn’t stay away. My ancestors keep calling to me, and falling in my lap. Today, I did at least a dozen ceilings of couples and more of daughters and sons, while Luis got some work done for the males, and I also got five females done in the sessions, so it was a good day’s work, but they just keep coming out of the woodwork. Whispering in my ear, and just seem to guide my fingers over the keyboard, until I find them….oh, I can’t explain it. Elijah is walking to and fro over this earth ( a lot faster than old scratch). I love the temple so much, and am so refreshed when I leave. I regret that we didn’t have many, many, many family home evenings about the temples. But I didn’t really understand the importance of that Holy House myself when all of you were growing up.

“sealings”, not “ceilings”

yeah, I have started back reading the 7th volume of “Work and Glory”. The history of the church is so interesting to me. Living in this little Island town is very intersting to me. The people here are really nice. I was off work today and casey and I went shopping. We went to some really cute shops on the beach and she bought some pretty things for her room. a really pretty tapestry she put on the bed in the guest room. I hope you and dad can come and visit this little town someday. It has alot of beautiful old homes and a lot of history . their are alot of catholics in this town and so there is a mardi gras here every year. it is a very artsy town as well and I am gonna purchase a painting i found today from a local artist when I can afford it. you would like it. all the old houses are painted, green and blue and yellow and pink. very quaint. when I get a camera I will take a picture of my house. its yellow, with green shutters and red steps that lead up to my porch upstairs.
