Deaths in our Ward

August 30, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments [1]

Last Wednesday a young woman of 29 died.  She had been in a wheelchair all of her life.  She was always so bright and happy.  And she knew the gospel well, having been taught by her loving parents and family, and by the sweet teachers that she had all through the years.  One could only feel good about her death, knowing that she can now walk.

I think about my parents and my brother every single day now.  I think of my brother, and I’m so sure that he accepted the gospel, and that he’s a prieshood holder, and that he’s helping our family members who have died all through the years.  I’m so sure of it.  How could Pop have resisted his wife and son.    I look so forward to the time when I can see them again.  I’m so thankful for the gospel and the plan of slavation that makes it so clear to me that I can be with my loved ones again.

The other death was a man probably in his seventies.  Brother Mott was in the backyard, chatting over the fence with a neighbor when he collapsed with a heart attack, and they could not save him.

One never knows when you get up in the morning.

Happy Birthday Leah Polhemus

I know Leah won’t read this, but maybe somebody wi..  Leah’s birthday is on the 28th of August.  I didn’t get the card in the mail until today, so she won’t get it in time.  That’s my style.  I had to send it to Hillary’s address.  And I can’t remember how old she is.  If Seay just turned 31, then Hillary is 29, and that means that Leah will be 28 tomorrow.  I guess I have it right.  Because Crystal comes next at 27.  Yes, she and Leah were little buds at one time long ago and faraway.

Our website has died a slow death.  If somebody doesn’t start showing some interest, we might as well bury it.

June Vaughn

One or two of you might remember June Vaughn.  She was a tall, lanky redhead.  Melanie Vaughn’s mother.  She passed away last week.  She had bone cancer, and she pretty much kept it quiet.  She didn’t want anyone to know about it.  Her son, Jason, went to Birmingham and stayed with her the last few days of her life.

Feriocious Thunderstorms

August 21, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

For weeks and weeks, we have been having horrible, dangerous thunderstorms across middle Florida.  Here in DeBary, we have been caught coming and going.  Tonight was the worst yet!  I thought it would never end.  The lightening was so fierce that it sounded as if it was landing in our yard.  Then Luis was watching the news, and sure enough, lightening struck a beautiful Presbyterian Church not too far from here, and it has burned to the ground.    I would say it is about eight blocks from our house.

During all of the free time that I know you have….you might look into learning how to do the brand new NEWFAMILY program, which I thought I had pretty down pat…and just overnight….THEY CHANGED EVERYTHING ON ME…and now i’m back to square one, and I don’t know how to proceed with my genealogy, and the ancestors that are crying out from their graves for their work to be done, and I don’t have a clue as to how to get their cards ready now. Well, you really need to get somebody to help you at the Family History Center. That’s where I have to go next. I did call Salt Lake City And got some help, but not enough.

I need Paul’s father’s address.  I want to write him a letter, and tell him how much I enjoyed his book.

Going To Visit Lainie Today

August 1, 2009 | Uncategorized | Comments [5]

The whole clan is going to drop in on Lainie down in Galveston today, leaving in just a few. We should be there about lunchtime.

This will be the first time I’ve seen Galveston since Ike hit, so I’m not sure what to expect. We’re looking forward to seeing Lainie’s new digs.
