Quote

I love this one.  I wish I had paid attention, and read it over and over, and embeeded it in my mind, and then maybe I could have voided some of the pitfalls in my life.  It is this:  By President Ezra Taft Benson (1899-1904.  He said, “When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power.”  How very simple.  How very true.  I read my Patriarchal Blessing, and sadly see the missteps.  But once we make the mistakes, they cannot be undone.  They can only be repented of.  However….at least “He remembers the sins no more”.

  2. Everyone “missteps.” We sin every day. Refer to “The Miracle of Forgiveness.”

A wise Bishop once told me, “It’s okay to look back at the mistakes in your life, but don’t stare.”

Once you accept the fact of the atonement, you have to realize that obsessing over all the things we did wrong in our past is really rather insulting to the Savior.

We tend to “believe IN Christ,” but we don’t “BELIEVE Christ,” as Stephen Robinson put it.

If I were you, Mom, I would include asking forgiveness for harshly pummeling yourself every day, along with everything else. You’re not being very nice to yourself.

  4. You’re right, Bill. I know it.

Maria, Luis and I just spent a great weekend together. We just ate, lounged, watched TV. Saturday we went to see Harry Potter, then out to eat dinner. More lounging in front of TV. Maria and I watched our favorite “Pride and Prejudice” for the 1000th time. Maria got on the ‘puter, while I watched a tear-jerker…”The Notebook”. Nancy would love that one.

    Good quote, Lainie.

Bill, it really does scare me to think the Savior may have died in vain for me, if all I can do is whine and cry when He has told me plainly that He forgives me. I’ve read “Miracle of Forgiveness”, and the article in the Ensign entitled “Believing Christ”.
