Suppen! Sample!

March 25, 2009 | Funny, Uncategorized

Hey, bet you werent specting me, were you? I wants ta show you’z something…z..zzzz You’ll like it!

I sit by the fire
Warming my fur
With my Person
I lick my whiskers
and sigh,
Content

My Person’s lap
is warm
“Pet my fur,” I tell him
He smiles,
And obeys

I settle on his leg
His right one, not left
For the left pants leg has
A stain,
And I do not
Wish to touch it.

My Person is very good at
Stroking
And I close my eyes,
Green and Blue

His hand strokes my
Soft grey fur
With a green tinge,
And a Blue hue
All the colors
Of the Rain

There is a sound
At the door
That is now lit
By the fire

My ear twitches
It comes again
“Scratch! Scrape!” it says

My Person shifts                                                                                                                                                  Under my paws
He picks me up
Setting me
Onto the ground

“Stay Rain,” He says,
for that is my name
And he goes to
The door

The sound is
Familiar.
The sound
Of sharpened Claws

It is stormy outside
And it is
Wet
And I do not wish
To go outside,
Though I am Rain
But I am curious
of the scratching
And follow

My Person opens
The wood door

There is a Creature
Very wet,
With a strange coat

I arch my back,
And hiss

A Wild cat!
A Wild cat at my door!
One with a golden coat,
and spots

The Wild cat hisses back
at me,
As would a snake
But then calms
and purrs
and rubs against
My Person’s legs

Later on
I learn;
The cat was not wild

She is a Savannah
And has wild ancestors
Her legs are long,
and ears are large

We become friends
While my person searches
For her people

She sits with us
By the fire.
I sit on my Person’s lap
On both legs

For Shia, the Savanna knows
He is my Person
and his lap is mine
And I am the only one allowed,
To be stroked in it.

Te he…

PS. It was my Birthday! It was my Birthday! I’m 13! Yay! Boo! I cant decide! I’ll just eat my M&M’s and think bout it later…

  2. I loved it Jordan, I will have to send it to Bailey , she would like it. Although, is Savanna a dog or a cat?

  4. That was such a cute poem, Jordan! Did you write it? It looks like something you would write…even if you didn’t actually write it.

  8. Lainie, it’s extremely difficult to get anything published, unless you “self-publish”, and that costs a lot of money.

I agree with you that this poem is worth putting out there. It’s just precious. But competition is just WILD.

Ten years ago, I came THIS CLOSE to getting seven of my poems published. Close enough that the editor took the time to write me a personal letter to tell me that they had passed through four readers, who wanted to publish, but the fifth reader rejected them, therefore they were rejected. He told me that I should keep trying. But I didn’t.

Jordan, do you want to try and get this poem published?

  9. Jordan. First, what a fantastic poem. You really are a natural. I need to post some of Ryder’s stuff. He doesn’t write poetry but writes some of the funniest stories.

And Happy Birthday Girl! Wow, you are really a teenager now. That is amazing.

We are working on booking a vacation in Florida this summer. We are looking at the first week in June. A place at the beach, probably Daytona so we can be near you guys and mom and dad too. I’ll let you know the details.

  10. Jordan, I read your poem over and over, and love it more each time.

Beth: I’m so glad you’re going to come down in June to Daytona. We live so close, and have never been to Daytona Beach, not even one time. I would like to go there, and see the beach while you are there. Not spend the night or anything. Just see the beach. You could come down here, and of course, you will want to go to Jacksonville and see Carmen and Jason’s home, and possibly Maria’s little pad. (She is two minutes from the beach)

You guys gear up for our visit, which is close at hand. We’re leaving here on the 17th, and heading for Macon to stay for a day or two, and then on to Birmingham. We’ll be there about the 19th or 20th. Depending on how fast we want to travel. Then we’ll leave for Missouri. Stay at Ben’s a few days, and probably go and visit Faye and Danny. Danny isn’t doing very well (he has Parkinson’s).

  12. Thanks everybody! I had fun writing it. Uh… I dont think its good enough to be published though. Too much work. Maybe later… Uh…
I think I’m going to re-do my Coal Wars stories. I just think they could be better.
I have to hurry, its storming outside and I have to turn off the computer.
    Bi Bi!!
    Love ya!
    Mean it!
