here’s a few pictures of the new paint job and mom and dad’s house – so far. i only got two ends of the room done so far. we didn’t get the area behind the entertainment center yet b/c of time and it would be heavy to move. i also haven’t gotten the kitchen done yet but am thinking about doing that wall and in the kitchen a pretty blue color to temper the yellow. i’ll try to post more pics when it’s done.

hey maria, I painted my bathroom at my other apartment dark gray and then I got a sponge roller and rolled over it very light gray, I couldn’t believe how good it looked. I bought very light gray rugs and stainless steel bathroom items. Why don’t you try this treatment on one of Mom’s rooms.

sounds really cool and i’m sure it looks great but the paint in the bathrooms is actually pretty good already and i don’t think the stainless steel look is really mom. she’s more doilies and florals. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Maria, since Dad finished the whole den, it really looks great, but did you HAVE to catch me in my nightie?
I can’t wait to get everything else done. I just wish I could get Dad to go to some garage sales and get some nice furniture for the bedroom. If it could be found.) We sure did miss a pretty set at the hospice, but we got HALF of it, and bought it and put it in the diningroom for a buffet. It looks good.
I’m not familiar with the treatment that Lainie is talking about? Would it be feasible to do that with the peach paint that we got for the front bedroom? Paint it with the peach, and then get a much lighter color, and sponge roller it????

yes mother. it looks great too!! they sell the sponge rollers at walmart for $1.00 you just put it on a regular roller. get a really really light peach almost white peach and it only takes about 10 minutes to roll it on. make sure you don’t put much paint on the roller. it looks fantastic. seay is suppose to drive dad’s moving van down here with my furniture here pretty soon. it will give him an opportunity to see bill as well. casey may ride with him

Maria, I really like that yellow color. Hard to tell the hue of it but my entire house is painted Nacho Chip now.
Looks like you smeared paint on the opposite wall in pic 2 though. I’ll pretend I don’t notice it next time I’m visiting.
Lainie, that is a cool technique. Actually, Donald and Darrell just remodeled my guest bathroom and they took sheet rock mud and blew it all over my bathroom. Then took a scraper and smoothed it out then painted it. Donald said the look is very hot right now. I really like it alot. It has a sculptured look to it.

Beth, that “smeared paint” on the opposite wall in pic 2 isn’t smeared. It’s the old green paint that Maria had not yet painted with the new yellow paint. Therefore, you can see the difference in the two colors. The old green and the new yellow. LOL I think it’s funny that you thought it was smeared. No, Maria isn’t quite that sloppy. She needs to make pictures of the gorgeous blue kitchen now. It’s so pretty. And the hall is a dark slate gray, and Dad finally put the photographs up evenly on the wall so they look so nice. Things are shaping up around here. I heard Dad out in the garage for hours today (I stay on the computer doing genealogy for hours everyday), and he was bumping and banging out there. I went out later, and “voila” a nice, straight garage for the first time since we moved in here. We can park the car in the garage now.
