Texas city??
November 5, 2008 | Uncategorized
Okay, I finally found a roommate and an apartment to rent for the 6 months I am down in Texas. I found a roommate “Consuelo”, she is 45 and we seem to have a lot in common. She is only charging me $375 a month with a $200 deposit. I will still have my apartment back here in Birmingham. Dad, wouldn’t let me give it up. I guess he was afraid if I gave it up I wouldn’t come back from Texas. At least this way, I can decide in 6 months what I want to do. The apartment is in Texas City. I don’t know much about this city except their are alot of plants (and I don’t mean my kind of plants) there. They kinda look like oil refineries, I don’t know. Anyway, I am trying to sublease out my apartment. It shouldn’t be too hard, I am only asking $500 a month which includes electricity and water. The apartments wouldn’t let me turn off the water or the electricity while I am gone and the bill is just as much even when I am not here because they said they take the average of the apartments.

Texas City is essentially one gigantic petroleum refinery, with a town kinda tucked in there. Not very pretty, not very good place to live, but I’m sure you can handle it for a few months or so – and you can always move.
The smell may take some getting used to.

I thought thats what all those plants were. They looked like oil refineries. Anyway, its just 13 miles from the Galveston Home Depot. I definately like the customers better down there. Their are alot of gardeners that live on the Island. Its not a really good time to live there though, when I was there last week, they were having major problems with flies and rats ugggghh! Yeah, my roommate works as an HR for one of the plants. I kinda like League City though. It seems fairly pretty.

Good luck to you, Lainie, with whatever you decide to do. Why would your Dad care if you went back to Birmingham? I thought he was finished helping you with your rent after December. Also, you rarely see him. It seems he would be happy for you to give up the Birmingham Apartment.
Just curious?

I agree Mom. Who ever knows what Dad is thinking. Anyway, my lease is up in april, and hopefully by then he will realize i am much happier living in Texas. I loved Texas when I was there before, I only came back because of Bailey so I could keep my relationship with her, but she is older now and we have a relationship so that won’t go away. I still want to eventually move to Galveston. Anyway, I hated Atlanta and I don’t like Birmingham , so I think eventually Dad will realize I am much happier out there.

I’m really glad you found a roommate so quick Lainie. The name sounds Jewish
Anyway, I plan on picking up some of plants next week. If lake hasn’t gotten any yet I will split them.
Did you get my message about the outside plant? I wanted to know what kind I could get to put on the front porch during the winter for a container plant. Any suggestions?

I have several here that go on the from porch. Just use them. They are outside plants. Just looking out my window, 5 of the ones outside stay outside all year anyway. only 1 plant I see outside goes in in the winter. I haven’t heard back from Lake yet. I may go by her office today and give her a set of keys. i am still trying to rent out my apartment for $500 a month (which includes power and water) on “roommates.com”. I am asking for cash the first month (I told them they could pay you and you would give them the keys). Make another set if you want to. It may take longer then I think to rent. when I find an roommate and they pay you just call me and I will give you my checking account number and you can deposit it in my account. This would be a huge favor to me. I am also going up to Jeff State and posting an add as well. I am also going up to Home Depot in Inverness and posting an add as well.
