Good Grief….We are truly royal!!!

October 24, 2008 | Uncategorized

I started tracing  Flora Montgomery’s (my 3rd great grandmother’s, history, and it went all the way back to “Dond” of Ireland and his Spouse, “Cocrainel”, both born in 0430 in Ireland.  But it was what I found it in between!!  Royalty!  I will spell it out later, but I have to go make a bottle for the little baby in the house, while his parents spend some time on their last two nights together.

  2. If you go back far enough, you’re bound to hit “royalty”. Anybody is. NOnetheless…it’s so much fun to see it in black and white in one’s own ancestry. Here are some interesting ancestors:

    Oh: A fact Each generation going back in time will be twice the number. If your ancestors landed here in 1600 and you are under 30, you would be the 14th or 15th generation and be descended from over 16,000 people. Just to give you a little idea of how it works:

    I decided to follow the line of Flora Montgomery, my 3rd great grandmother. Her father was David Montgomery. His father was Captain James Montgomery (1716-1780).

    His father was Captain James Montgomery, and his father was Hugh Montgomerie (spelling is changed…who would be my 7th great grandfather, (1630-1710) born in Brigend, Maybole, Ayr, Scotland.

    His father was William Montgomerie, and his father was Neil Motgomerie (born about 1517 in Lainshaw, Ayrs, Scotland.

    His father was Earl Hugh Montgomerie (and wife was Helen Campbell)

    I CHANGED LINES HERE…AND STARTED FOLLOWING THE ‘CAMPBELL LINE.”

    Helen’s father is my 12th great grandfather, and he is (Earl) Colin Campbell, born about 1418 in Argyll, Scotland. He died 10 May 1493 in Scotland.

    His father was Baron Duncan Campbell, my 13th great grandfather, and his wife is Marjory Stewart. THE STEWART LINE CAN BE FOLLOWED HERE. I WILL INFORM YOU LATER.

    NOW IT GETS REALLY INTERESTING;

    TWO OF THE 14th GREAT GRANDFATHERS ARE:

    Sir Knight Archibald Campball, Lord of Lochtow; (1310-1343)

    And King Robert II House of Stewart. His wife is Elizabeth (of Rowallan) Mure. Queen Scotland.

    On down to 18th Great Grandfather, who is the Earl of Lochowe Cailen Campbell. Married to Princess Eaill of Alexander. He was born about 1096 in Lochowew Argyll scotland, and died 1110 in Scotland.

    THEN THE NAMES GET CRAZY;

    Duibhne O’Duibhne Deab-Gheall, a 20th Great Grandfather, born in Lachow Argyllshire in 0945…..from the Campbell line.

    and on to the Dond that I mentioned before.

    The Steawart line goes to kings and queens of Scotland and England.

  3. This puts us in direct line with ‘Robert the Bruce’ of Scotland portrayed in the Mel Gibson movie ‘Braveheart’
