5. Lainie: Standard IQ scoring is normalized to a median of 100. 100 is considered “average,” the tip of the bell-curve.

   I took one several years back and scored something like 130 or so. 130 is “bright” to “moderately gifted.” However, many experts feel that abstraction of such a phenomenon as “intelligence” to a single, all-encompassing number is misleading.

   I suspect Jason isn’t recalling things correctly. There are many different sorts of aptitude tests, that score on various scales.

6. N.B. Einstein was incredibly smart about some things, but likewise naive about others.

   While he was able to intuit a great many things concerning the physical properties of the universe, for example, he also thought that there should be a super-national organization (such as the United Nations) that was “in charge” of everyone, that all we have to do to abolish war is to FORCE everyone to be friends, etc.

   No one on earth is “smart” about everything.

7. Well I suspect since the test I took had alot of numbers and that being my best subject , that is the only reason then I scored high. Had it been a longer test dealing more with the English side of the brain mine would probably have been lower. Your much brighter then me, I know you scored 34 on your ACT and Myself and Buddy scored 27. I would suspect my score would have been more in the 115-129 range. Also although I was pretty sure about all of my answers, there was one question I guessed and I must have accidentally guessed right. So I think they can be misleading to a point. Seems like I remember taking another sort of test years before and I don’t remember the score but I know it was above average. I am pretty sure everyone in this family is above average intelligence some just don’t apply themselves like they should or should have (myself being a good example).

8. I took one in my mid 20s. I scored a 114. I knew I was not as Bright as everyone else in the family but, shear determination can often trump one’s lack of insight.
