Google Maps

Every few weeks I check “Google Maps” to see what “street views ” have been added. I checked the other day and now you can see moms house at street view now and walk up and down her street. They still haven’t added Birmingham yet, but I am sure they will eventually. Oh when you look at Mom’s house the truck and Carmen’s car are parked out front.

Here’s our place (must have been taken this past Christmas-time)

  3. I think this is really cool. Anywhere you want to walk up and down the street in the world practically you can go, without burning any calories of course. Your tree has gotten larger and it looks like you still have that Sago palm out from. The shrubs have grown as well.

  4. Yeah, actually the Sago palm needs to be transplanted to the front; it’s gotten even larger than is shown here! Not sure how to do it; I may have to fly you out here to supervise.

The little tree right by the sidewalk has since died, sadly. I don’t know what happened. It was a “Royal Oak” that we got for free, handed out by our Homeowners’ Association. It’s still there, but dead as a door-knob (which was never alive in the first place, of course; why do we say that?)

    Any suggestions?

  5. Well, about the sago palm. I wouldn’t transplant it into a different place because then you have to dig up sod and worry about grass growing into the tree bed thus more maintenance, and I assume you want a low maintenance bed. Just cut the sod out an extra two or three feet around where the sago is now and move it over to center it. Move it in January when it is dormant and dig as large a rootball as you can. If you have reservations about grass growing into the bed buy an edger to insert in the ground around it. I hate the black plastic it looks fake unless you cut the lip off after it is inserted and lay stone on to of it. But there is a green metal insertable edging that isn’t as noticeable.
