The Hindenburg (a dirigible, lighter-than-air craft that used hydrogen for buoyancy) was supposed to be the symbol of the mighty Third Reich, the Nazi-led Germany that had risen from the ashes of World War I to become a proud nation again. For reasons unknown even to this day, something caused it to explode just as it was approaching its mooring in New Jersey, after an Atlantic Crossing, and within seconds it was a flaming wreck of twisted metal and dead bodies. It was made VERY famous by the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F54rqDh2mWA" rel="nofollow">on-the-spot radio report</a> by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Morrison_(announcer)#Hindenburg_disaster" rel="nofollow">Herb Morrison</a> of Chicago's WLS. I’m pretty sure that this is the Hindenburg, which is usually used in reference to an unmitigated disaster.

I can never remember that one. I do remember that I was still in bed, and Linda came and knocked on the door, and stuck her head in and told me what had just happened!! Unbelievable!!
