  2. Was that the Hindenburg or the Titanic, or possibly the “rocket to the moon” that exploded after being in the air for less than two minutes. I can never remember that one. I do remember that I was still in bed, and Linda came and knocked on the door, and stuck her head in and told me what had just happened!! Unbelievable!! What could possibly have gone wrong?!

OBAMA BIDEN. I thought it couldn’t get worse.

  3. I’m pretty sure that this is the Hindenburg, which is usually used in reference to an unmitigated disaster.

The Hindenburg (a dirigible, lighter-than-air craft that used hydrogen for buoyancy) was supposed to be the symbol of the mighty Third Reich, the Nazi-led Germany that had risen from the ashes of World War I to become a proud nation again.

For reasons unknown even to this day, something caused it to explode just as it was approaching its mooring in New Jersey, after an Atlantic Crossing, and within seconds it was a flaming wreck of twisted metal and dead bodies.

It was made VERY famous by the on-the-spot radio report by Herb Morrison of Chicago’s WLS.
