Happy Birthday Seay!

May 30, 2008 | Birthdays | Comments [4]

He’s…gulp!…THIRTY YEARS OLD TODAY!

Mom, you have a grand-child who is THIRTY!!!

YOWCH!!!

I remember his birth like it was last year. First time I’d ever witnessed a child-birth of course, and it was terrifying and fascinating all at once! That was before the days of TLC or what-have-you; now you get to see a baby born every day, on the tube.

He was BLUE. Scared the be-jeebers out of me, I thought something was wrong! Then he took his first breath, and within seconds he was a healthy baby-pink.

We stayed at the little clinic where he was born, out in the middle of nowhere, Alabama, and then took him home that night. He cried half the night, and his mother just kept saying “I don’t know what to do! I don’t know what to do!”

Good grief, what a couple of clueless kids we were!

Everything turned out okay, though, and despite a little bump in the road when he was 15, he’s been a joy to everyone who has known him.

Happy birthday, Seay-bee Shoy! (rhymes with “baby boy”)

I love you!

Brother Dollins

May 30, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [5]

I saw Brother Dollins at Home Depot the other day and he seemed so sad. He was going to feed  Sister Dollins at the Nurseing home but just talking to him and shaking his hand he seemed so tired and sad it broke my heart. I hope the Lord is looking out for him, because I wanted to cry after he left.

On The McLure Family

May 29, 2008 | Ancestry | Comments [1]

I looked in some of the McLure files that I have stashed away, and pulled out an old article from a Troy Newspaper, The Troy Messenger: February 27, 1967, and it’s all about the McLure family:  entitled:

Mclure Family Lists Many Pioneers In Pike County.

Interesting article.  Begins with the earliest:  John Mclure…came from Scotland.  We already know all of that.

And goes on to list Daddy Mac and his three sisters and brother.  I’ve long wondered who they were, and when I talked to Babs, we began to GET OUR MEMORIES JOGGED, and together the two of us started to remember things about Daddy Mac’s relatives.  Enough that I went into Newfamily, and had enough information to list his three sisters and one brother with Abouts and of’s and get them ready for their ordinance work to be done.  I hope I’m right to do that.  If not, I’m sure I’ll hear about it in the next life.

Pets?

Julia has pretty much made our taking our dog Kelly along with us on the trip as a condition of her attendance.
Anyone else thinking of taking pets? What are the rules about pets at the park?

Deaths in the Family

May 23, 2008 | Items of Interest | Comments [1]

You will not know them, but they are my mother’s people.  I grew up with them, and they were very dear to me.  They are members of the McLure family.

I called my friend of (many years), Mary Jo.  We have been friends since we were fourteen years old.  It was time for us to check in with one another again.  I kept having the urge to call her….like there was something I needed to know, and at the same time, I was thinking about my Aunt Ann McLure, the last member of that family.  I knew she must be 86-88 years old.  Mary Jo told me right away that she had just read about Ann’s death in the Macon Telegraph.  I pulled up the information on the MJacon Telegraph’s Obituaries.  Then I went to Whitepages.com, and got her son, Larry, (that would be my first cousin) phone number….called him…he answered, and we chatted with twenty-one years to make up.  The last time I saw Larry was in 1987 when his father (my Uncle Frank) died.  He told my that my cousin, Cherry, had died of Cancer.  Cherry would be 57 years old now.  I don’t know when she died.  I didn’t get that from Larry before I hung up.  Alex is going to call him and get all the information.  Alex and Larry were like Siamese Twins practically.  They were inseparable when they were little boys.  Where there was one….there was the other.   Alex hasn’t talked to Larry since he (Alex) married Jeanette in 1960.   Or somewhere around that time, anyway.  i don’t always get my facts straight.  The older you get, the more your brain is expected to handle.

And my brain has had it for the day.  Crystal…don’t forget to look for Ursula Guthrie.

Max the Cat

May 23, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Teyla and I decided to walk the long four blocks, and they are LONG to visit Max if we could find him.

To make it longer, Teyla decided we should go AROUND another block.  So we turned to the left, and then back to the right, and saw a huge dog in the street.  But we spotted the chain that he was tied to, and carefully assessed the matter.  Teyla, who is the boss of everything, decided it was safe for us to pass, if we hugged the right side of the street.  So, we cautiously did so, and just as we entered the spot that was most dangerous, the dog barked loud and clear, and Teyla and I took off like Cicero’s cat!!

Cicero’s cat was a comic strip that Pop loved, and the cat always was running here and there about something, and Pop took up the saying with all of you kids, (they ran off like Cicero’s cat) and you don’t even remember it, but I do.  Anyway, we got out of there pronto.

We found Max lying in the driveway of the woman who feeds him occasionally, and he looked awful.  Even more fur is gone from his hind quarters.  He ran to us, and rung around and around our legs, and we petted him, and we hugged him, and then we told him we had to go.  He followed us for a long way, and then he stopped, and we saw him leave….swallowed up in some bushes….on his way back to his territory where Carmen used to live.  So sad.

Yesterday Casey got in town and spent a few hours with me and then went to her grandparents. She is coming by in the morning again on her way out of town. She looks really good, she’s doing really well. I took a picture of her. You may see all the makeup on her face to cover the acne, but shes been going to a doctor and it is starting to get better. I will try and post the picture, keep in mind I have a new computer and its widows vista. so we’ll see if it posts.

last update

ortha
ok this is the last update on any of my artsy stuff for awhile because I am sure its annoying…. hehehe…

I have added 2 new chapters to my story and I know they are VERY short and I have a reason for that…

If you visit my site often you would know that if a new photo manipulation appears like the one above, it means there is a new chapter… but it must have the title chronicles of Ortha somewhere on the photo or artist comment ^^

Whatever happened to….

The T-SHIRTS  Please, will somebody just sent something to Lainie, so she can get that done!

And the talent show.  Everyone that plans to participate, will you please get your act together.  I will require Lily, Both Ethans, Isaiah, Amaya, Dylan, and Teyla to do a little skit with me and one of my poems, entitled, “What Did Ronald Rabbit Find?”  We won’t have much time to practice, and it’s no trouble, because they will simply repeat what I tell them.  BUT… will somebody volunteer to make some rabbit ears?  Never mind.  I just thought of a very simple way to make rabbit ears.  Tee Hee.  It’s so silly, but with the kids doing it, it’s bound to be cute.  Did I leave any kid under eight years out?

Looking for someone to split with…

May 19, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [21]

We need someone to split a cabin or chalet with. What do the living arrangements look like at the moment? Anybody willing to board with us. Benefits? I have two adorable children who you are welcome to bath and read night-night stories to as well as entertain any way that keeps them laughing and out of my hair. As well I have a wife that makes a mean chocalate pudding pie and you can have a slice or at least a bite.

Also, we’re planning on staying at the cabins M-F but will be in town Sunday, is there someone, Beth, Brenda, Buddy, who would mind a night of my families company? Trust me, the kids and Julie will make up for any annoyances I might impose. :) They are SO cute! Trust me, you’ll want to keep them, and for the right price, you can! ;)

my old computer crashed last week (or so I thought). I bought a new one only to find out it was the modem box. I have to a. figure out how to transfer files like pictures and journals and music on to this one. b. figure out why windows vista stretches out everything. c. figure out how to download a game on here, windows vista doesn’t seem to read games very well that were meant for xp. and on and on. anyway, I hope everyone is have a great week. My camera was stolen but bailey got a new one and she is a great photographer . As soon as I can figure out how to transfer files from my old computer , I will let you see some of her picutures. Casey moved out of her apartment and into one closer to her school. she sounds good.

A phone call from old friend

May 13, 2008 | Ad-MOM-ishments | Comments [19]

Bud, you mentioned Vickie Reedy to me on the phone on Mother’s Day, didn’t you?  Was I not listening closely?  Did you say that someone was trying to get in touch with us?

Anyway, Connie Kinney has been trying to find out what happened to Luis and me for months.  Her son, Mike (or Micah?) lives in Birmingham, and she doesn’t remember what Ward he’s in, but he met somebody named Vicki Reedy, and she knew you, Bud, and evidently you gave our phone number to somebody???

Connie called, and we chatted for awhile, catching up on years and years, because it’s been at least twenty since we’ve been in touch.

Before we hung up, I naturally had to whine about how bad I was feeling with all of my physical woes!

She said, “Oh, NOW I know why i have been so desperate to get in touch with you.  I can help you get better Elaine.  Really, I can help you.  I’m expecting a machine in the mail any day now.  I have paid $1200 for it.”  And she proceeded to tell me about that, and about the special kind of water that is going WILD in Salt Lake City, because the demand for it is so great.  People are claiming that it is doing wonders for every kind of physical problem from Arthritus (sp?) to diabetes etc.

She wanted to know when I was going to be in Birmingham, and she could possibly go there and meet me, and she would treat me for free.  I told her about the reunion, and invited her to come.

Now is my favor that I ask of all of you, my children.  I want to have whatever this is that she is peddling.  The last time I listened to Connie, it was with the Super Blue Green Algae, and I did away with all pain meds, and was feeling wonderful, but couldn’t afford the Algae.

If she can come to our reunion, will each one of you (that can afford it-and some of you can’t) pitch in for one night’s rent for a motel room for her? Make it a double, so her son Mike can possibly come??  Please!!  And she can make Beth’s back better, and Buddy’s Diabetes better, and all of me better, and Brenda’s Fibromyalgia better.  That is, if you want the treatments.  You will, of course, read the pamphlets and study about it.

I know Connie, and I know what a good and honest person she is.

I thought about it, and it won’t interfere with our fun and games.  In fact, it might fill in some of the idle hours.  We don’t have to do anything we don’t want to do.

I blurted out and invited her, but I don’t mind disinviting her.  She will understand.  I should have gotten everybody’s input first.  She did seem a little surprised that I would invite her to something as private as our family reunion.  Just think about it.  I believe at this point, I would agree to rocket to the moon, and explore it for green cheese if I thought there was a chance for something to get me off these pills and make me better!!

Thank You to Bill and Bud

I received my very wonderful Mothers-Day gifts.  Bill, how did you know that I like Julie Andrews so much.  I adore her!!  It will be a pleasure to read about her life.

And thanks, Bud, for hours of free phone-yakking.  I didn’t know this like gadget existed.  Very nice.  Thank you!

Coal Wars

May 11, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [3]

~Hi! Sorry for being so late with the story. Here is the epilogue for Coal Wars… or is it prologue… I think its prologue.

Prologue

The forest sighs as the wind brushes against the leaves of its trees and clouds whisper as they are carried through the sky. Waters of a lake slap against the cold rock of the dark dewfilled night. But not all is peacfull, for in the mountains, something is stirring. This is the world of Eleenta, but the lush green fields will soon drip scarlet, and the sky will grow coal black.

Hope you like it!!!!!!!!! =”=~

James Franklin McLure

May 7, 2008 | Items of Interest | Comments [4]

I will interrupt my hot pursuit of information about my kindred dead via the NEWFAMILY program, which is becoming more of a puzzle to me each day.  However, as I dig through my stacks of notes and disorganized “stuff” I run across items of interest.  Here is one.  It simply says, “James Franklin died fighting for the Confederate States of America.”  He was my GG Grandfather, and that, of course, would make him your (meaning my children) GGG Grandfather, and my grandchildren (Lanie Beth, Jordan, etc>) He would be their GGGG Grandfather.  He fought for a lost cause, but evidently it was a cause that he believed in.  I don’t know if he was wealthy, and owned many slaves, thus….wanting to keep them in bondage, or if he thought that the southern states had a right to secede from the northern states, and form a union of their own.  However, he fought and died.  He was born in 1828, and died in 1862, making him thirty-four years old, and leaving his wife, Delia (29) with at least four children.  I’m not too sure about that.  I know we are descendants of James Alec Mclure.
