lainie, funny you should ask about plants because i was just thinking i should ask you what are some plants that do well in the shade. My back porch is screened in and gets almost no direct sunlight. Late in the afternoon it gets a tiny bit peaking through some tree leaves but that’s it. any suggestions?

That is basically my porch Maria. I get about two hours of sunlight through trees in the afternoon. this is what is on my porch all in pots. 1. hydrangea (shade shrub) 2. Camillia (evergreen shade shrub 3. bonsai boxwood 4. Norfolk Island pine 5. Ginger lilly (Sun or shade perinnial) 6. pothos (a house plant 7. Heuchera (shade perinnial) 8. philadendron (a house plant) 9. Money plant (a house plant) 10. Hosta ( a shade perinnial))11. Austrailian Tree fern (shade perinnial) 12. Some impatiens (shade annuals) 13.spiral Alberta spruce (a sun or shade tree) . 14. Bergenia (a shade perinnial). All of these should do fine on your porch. Also Ivy leaf Geraniums, caladiums, ivy, all kinds of ferns, elephant ears. Take this list to a nursery sometime when your bored and look at some of these and see if you like any of them. Of course since you live in Jacksonville you wouldn’t have to bring your house plants back in in the winter. Its nice to have various plants so you can evaluate them.

Isn’t it wonderful to have sisters and brothers with various talents to share. I’m sure, Lainie, if you ever need some DNA evidence evaluated quickly, Maria will be glad to take care of it in her lab personally and quickly… or, er…is that the sort of thing you do, Maria? I don’t even yet KNOW WHAT YOU DO!!!!!

Well I have confidence in Maria that in a few years she will buy a house, but in the meantime she can evaluate alot of plants and then plant them in her yard when she buys a house.

Bill was talking about how it was respectful for nieces and nephews to call their Aunts and Uncles “Aunt so and so and Uncle so n so. He said he would make an exception and Seay didn’t have to call you or Ben Uncle Maria or Uncle Ben, of course unless you would like Seay to call you Aunt Maria.
