We Need a Committee

First of all, everyone needs to read what happened concerning the T-shirts. Brenda came up with a good plan for getting things going on that. She didn’t really know that Lainie was in charge of that. Lainie had already found a lady that did that sort of thing, and she had an appointment with her.
As I said in my comments, we can’t let those things cause us to lose sight of what we’re trying to do with our Reunion. We’re honoring two wonderful people that have been long gone from this earth, but because of them, we are here. We are alive.
And we’re doing it so that we can draw closer to each other as a family. My greatest desire is to see my family displaying love and kindness toward each other, and forgiveness if it is needed, before it is my turn to leave this earth. I know Dad feels the same. And we don’t know who might leave this earth first. We MUST stick together. We are FAMILY. And we have this one shot at having a wonderful time. Please let’s not let anything spoil it.
We do need a Committee of some kind.
Brenda. You came up with some great ideas when you first mentioned going to DeSoto. You talked about some things that you and Beth could do. Would you and Beth be willing to volunteer right now to be the Chairpersons of the Committee, and will everybody else say “Yea’?
Next: “The Talent Show” Would it be feasible for Buddy and Bill to get together the talent show, after Brenda and Beth have arranged the dinner and the room in which to have it, etc. Could they be the Talent Show Committee?
The T-Shirts: Since it was Lainie’s idea, let her go ahead and handle it, because Brenda didn’t really want to take it on. Lainie could be the “T-Shirt Committee” That would mean gathering up all of the money, however it is to be done. Also, to accept and look over other proposals on the logos. Bill wants to give other people a chance to design one, other than Carmen, and I’m sure Carmen wouldn’t mind.
Is this idea shaping up at all? HELP!!!
We have successfully gotten most people into a lodging. That is a Chalet, Log Cabin, or Motel. That’s a great start.
And just be DARNED if T-Shirts are going to threaten my Reunion to honor my parents!

I am just a little curious as to why it is not in honor of Dad’s parents as well. We wouldn’t have half the kids without his parents. Just a thought.

Lainie: Mom’s concerned about making Uncle Alex feel welcome, I think. Reading between the lines, it must have taken a bit of coaxing to get him to agree to come.
Mom: I concur with everything you’ve suggested, regarding “committee assignments.”

No coaxing at all, Bill. Alex was very much in favor of it, and he and Lorrie are going to make every effort to come. It isn’t likely Erin and Meghan, his two daughters, will be able to take off a whole week of work, but they could perhaps take off for a weekend. Maybe the last weekend. They took “dance” all of their lives. Lorrie was a dancer. Maybe Erin and Meghan could be persuaded to put on their old dancing shoes again and dance us a jig. All of this is pure conjecture. But conjecture got the Wright Brothers started.

Okay….I have one “yea” for organizing committees.
Somebody with more savvy than me, please list committees needed. Nancy? Julie? Beth? Brenda?
Lainie?
I suggested. Chairpersons: Beth and Brenda
First Committee: Set up semi-formal dinner. Will have to get busy tagging the room for the occasion.
Probably needs money downpayment or something
Second Committee: Buddy and Bill; Set up Talent Show that will follow dinner
Third Committee: Lainie for the T-Shirts. She will look over the suggested logos, choose one, seek out the prices, etc. etc. and if Brenda’s suggestd of the people in her building sounds best.
Lainie…you could consider that.
Another Committee: To organize an outdoor barbecue if enough people want one. We may have to tag a pavillion for a certain evening.
Another Committee: to organize a baseball game if everybody wants one. We may have to tag the ball field for a certain time.
This is just babble. When Johnnie and I set up Aunt Lucille’s two reunions for her, I just remember working my hind legs off. Johnnie called all the shots, and I just did what she told me to do. Aunt Lucille forked over $20,000 for the first occasion, and I can’t remember the second.
