I tried to change mine, but found that I cannot do it without your permission. Evidently that will be true of everyone on this site that wants to change.

Jordan, you have a login now. I expected to see lots of nonsensical action-packed stories involving grotesquely shaped, imaginary, anime type creatures being posted….or just a funny story. perhaps you should give us all a sampling of something you’ve written.
plants
April 29, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [7]
lainie, funny you should ask about plants because i was just thinking i should ask you what are some plants that do well in the shade. My back porch is screened in and gets almost no direct sunlight. Late in the afternoon it gets a tiny bit peaking through some tree leaves but that’s it. any suggestions?

AFTER ALL, WHO KNOWS BETTER THAN MORTICIANS THE IMPORTANCE
OF HAVING A LITTLE FUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
Hey, Lainie: Remember the little fat kid in MonroevilleLuverne, AL, who told you “Today’s Fun Day?”
You have to tell that story.
Happy belated birthday Lainie

I hope you got our card, because I certainly did mail one to you!! So, if you received it, how can you say that you didn’t get a Happy Birthday from Mom or Dad. Also, if you’ll notice under “Happy birthday to Jason”, I say”we’ll we wishing Lainie and Jason Happy birthday tomorrow.” But I couldn’t put it on the website after all, because Jason had our computer torn into a million pieces the next day, and I should have called, but I don’t call anybody else, either. Ask them. I’m trying to get a lot better about sending cards. I have my files set up, with cards already in them, and I have my birthday book up to date, and I STILL FORGOT Casey Ann, so I sent her a strange late card. Lainie, I have 44 people in my book to try and remember, now: 9 children; 23 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grand-son-in-law; four daughters-in-law; three sons-in-law; 1 brother; and one sister-in-law. That’s only $1.54 per month in stamps, if I break it down that way (and I prefer to do it.. of course, stamps go up to 42 cents in May.) Seay is my only May birthday. Then Darrell is the only June birthday. July is stacked.
Please let me know under this post if you got your card.

After Crystal it all started to go a little haywire! Also, Thanks Ben and Julie for the gift you sent. They were PERFECT for my back porch. I tried to send you a thank you email but found the address i have for you doesn’t work anymore so i had to resort to this. I love everyone and can’t wait to see you all in July. XXOO
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JASON IN JUST A FEW HOURS
April 25, 2008 | Birthdays | Comments [1]
Jason was born eight hours after Maria, literally, because they are the same age. He will be 32, also. And his birthday, of course, is on Lainie’s birthday. SO…We’ll be congratulating Lainie and Jason tomorrow.
Happy 3rd birthday to little Ben
April 25, 2008 | Birthdays | Comments [4]
His birthday was yesterday, but his party is tonight. It’s going to be a “Thomas Train” party. He selected that one himself. Ryder had a Thomas Train birthday party I believe, didn’t he, Beth?
Julie said he’s ALMOST potty trained, and he’s doing it himself. Yeah for little Ben!!!! We have to recognize the accomplishments, large and small. And this is LARGE!
Happy 32nd Birthday Maria
April 25, 2008 | Birthdays | Comments [9]
Yes, it’s really true. She’s trundling on along in the thirties, fast on the heels of Ben, who will be 34 in July.
She opted not to come here for her birthday, so I don’t know what she’s doing. Beautiful weather is forecasted for most of central Florida, so she’s probably going to head on over to the beach and spread out for a little R and R all by herself, unless she has a friend over there. Maria doesn’t mind time alone at all. She gets that from her mother. I love being all alone, but I don’t get that very often anymore.
I wish I could go over and lie around on the beach.

I’m getting pretty good at this. I have upgraded the blog software (WordPress) from version 2.5 to version 2.5.1, apparently successfully. At least, the blog is still humming along without crash-ment.
Yea, me!

When you need one? Last Monday night, I took Teyla out for a walk to get her out of the house while the missionaries were here to give the lesson to Jordan. We decided (Teyla’s opinion was asked) to walk up to Carmen’s old house, and see if we could spot “Max”, the cat that Carmen got when he was just a little kitten, and Jordan was just a little sprite of about three, and the house was brand new. So the cat has to be about eight or nine years old. Anyway, when Carmen moved down here, the cat refused to come. He hangs out at a lady’s house that lives two doors over from Carmen’s house. She feeds him, but the cat looks awful. The fur is coming off of his backside, and Jason looked up cat problems on the computer, and found that it can be caused from stress. The poor cat has been under stress ever since he lost his home. He was mostly an indoor cat. He had his cat door through the garage, and into the back door, so he had the freedom of the yard when he wanted it, but he mostly stayed in Carmen’s house.
Of course, when she moved….he could no longer get in his home…..and he refused to stay with us. He just won’t stay here. We recently kept him for about ten days, and we wouldn’t let him go outdoors at all. We wanted to feed him well, and hoped to settle him down, and pet him, and ease his stress, but it was no use. He begged to go out. So Carmen let him out, and he went back to his “home”.
Well, Teyla and I reached our destination, and Teyla stood on the edge of the lady’s yard, with a child’s faith that the cat would come. All she had to do was call. I was just as positive that there was no way that that cat was anywhere around.
But, “LO!” A little child’s voice rang out over the yard, “Max, come here Max. Max, where are you. Max, come here Max.”
And what to my wandering eyes should appear? Yes, you guessed it. From around the side of the house, and bounding through the bushes, came beautiful Max. And he ran right up to Teyla, and wound around her legs, and then he greeted me, and wound around my legs. We petted him. He’s such a beautiful cat. All bushy in the face, with black and white hair, but the rear end fur is worn off. Anyway, we invited him to follow us home. He followed us almost all the way, but Teyla wanted me to pick him up. I knew that wasn’t a good idea. It wasn’t. He rung away from me, and dashed away under a bush, and there was no coaxing him out. Nope. We came on home. And I’m sure that Max went back to the only home he knows.
Carmen’s house is so sad and pathetic. No one has lived in it since she moved out. The grass and bushes have overtaken it, and it looks awful. I just want to cry every time I see it.
I have sound
April 22, 2008 | Check-in | Comments [8]
for some reason the sound finally came back to my computer, so I was finally able to listen to all of the talks from conference. I am so grateful for this and i love my prophet and I hope all the family knows how lucky they are to be able to listen to conference. In the days of King Benjamin , talks had to be written. We are so lucky in this day to hear our Apostles and Prophet immediatly. Praise to Our Lord!! My hope is that this year my family will really learn to love the Lord and really understand how much he loves us. It is a love we will never comprehend in this life, but he will show us if we want to know
Old friends
April 21, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [5]
I was working today and customers were coming at me from everyside asking questions and this one guy was asking me about some Organic stuff and I wasn’t looking at him because I was doing 5 things at once and then he said something flirtatious and I turned and looked at him and had to look twice and then I lifted my sunglasses and it was an old boyfriend I dated at age 22 and then again at age 33, so it had been another 14 years since I had seen him. Its kind of funny because I have run into old boyfriends before and even though they now have a few more gray hairs (or less hair) and a few more wrinkles , when I talk to them its like we were back age 20 again and they flirt like their still 20 as well, and I look past their wrinkles and they still seem 20 to me. The guy I ran into today is 51. If I talked to another guy 51 that I didn’t know well he would seem old to me. Does that make since? Anyway, its always nice to see old friends that you were fond of. I just hate I am fatter every time I see them ![]()
Alabama Heritage
April 20, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [4]
Bill, the latest edition of Alabama Heritage came. I was happy to see that there was an article about Birmingham, but was disappointed that it was only about the Civil Rights movement. “The Voice of Black Birmingham” is the title. It has several prints of different papers with titles like “Supreme Court Voids Sit-In Convictions”. “Kennedy Says U. S. Will Enforce Desegragation At Alabama Univ. if Necessary to Counter Wallace.” There’s a wonderful photo of Birmingham’s Northside, which was a proud community where black-owned Insurance Companies, Banks, Grocery Stores, Theaters, Beauty Parlors, Barber Shops, Restarants, and Night Clubs Flourished. It must have been around the early 1920’s from the look of the cars. And what were blacks doing with so many cars? And those on the streets were very nicely dressed in their overcoats (it must have been cold weather) and of course hats, which look ’20’s. I’m not a good judge. Maybe the cars are 1930’s. This makes me think of Pop so much. (mentioning the hats-not the Civil Rights movement)
Of course, we were living in Birmingham….in Elyton Village….when “Bull” Connor(?) turned the hose on the blacks. And the dogs. I mean, he turned the dogs on the blacks…not the hose on the dogs.
Alabama Heritage Magazine, Spring 2008 Issue,
showing Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest on the cover.

It’s A First-Grade Hoedown

This is Grandson Ethan’s First Grade program at Woodcreek Elementary School last month. The video’s pretty good (they get professionals to do these now - I swear, this is going to be the most photo- and videographed generation in history).
Ethan is (once again) on the far right in each scene. He’s one of the three kids in the opening scene, on the rightmost microphone, and he’s on the far right in the “chorus” as well.
