Memories come in photo surprises
March 22, 2008 | Photoblog | No Comments
I was sitting at the dinette table, propped on my elbows, enjoying a cool breeze blowing through the front door, and half asleep because I was so tired from working all morning in the kitchen. I was thinking about mother, which I do a lot lately.
Luis interrupted my daydreams, and asked me who we knew in Dothan by the name of B. Jordan.
“Oh! That’s my cousin, Babs! She promised to send me some old photographs that she had of the family members months ago. Those are THEM!”
They were wonderful. There was a picture of Daddy Mac (my Grandfather James Howard McLure…He would be your Great-Grandfather. He would be Great-Great grandfather to your children.) He is such a good-looking old man. I still haven’t taken time to discern everybody’s age yet, except maybe Babs. She looks to be about four. That would make the one of me about fourteen, and Alex about seven. There is one of Uncle Frank, Aunt Nell, Uncle Buck, little cousin Cherry (Buck’s daughter) Babs’ brother, Don is about three, and little sister Mary Beth is two. There is another man that I can’t identify. The picture of me isn’t good. I have a scarf around my hair, and I’m looking down (sitting down). Barely recognizable, but I know it’s me. I know it’s Alex, although it’s only a side view. Two pictures of Mama Mac are really good. I am anxious to know how old she is, because I have a feeling that she is younger than I am now. That would be something!! And I didn’t realize that I got Nell’s figure. I got her legs precisely.
Uncle Frank was such a Hunk! or a Fox! or whatever the modern vernaculer is. He was just adorable.
Anyway. This is my post for the day. LOVE MOM

Reunion Date
March 21, 2008 | Reunion 2008 | Comments [5]
I can come anytime but since we need a date how about the last weekend in July?? That’s the weekend of the 26th. Yes or No? Everyone needs to answer even if it’s yes. And converse with other family members that may not check the site that often and find out if it seems good for them too.
Looking Back

Thought for the day March 21
All is fundamentally well. that does not mean that all is well on the surface of things. But it does mean that God’s in His heaven and that He has a purpose for the world, which will eventually work out when enough human beings are willing to follow His way. “Wearing the world as a loose garment” means not being upset by the surface wrongness of things, but feeling deeply secure in the fundamental goodness and purpose in the universe.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that God may be with me in my journey through the world. I pray that I may know that God is planning the journey.

Thought for the day March 20
Funtioning on a material plane alone takes me away from God. I must also try to function on a spiritual plane. Functioning on a material plane as well as a spiritual plane will make life what it should be. All material activities are valueless in themselves alone. But all activities, seemingly trivial or of seemingly great moment, are all alike if directed by God’s guidance. I must try to obey God as I would expect a faithful, willing servant to carry out directions.
Prayer for the day
I pray that the flow of god’s spirit may come to me through many channels. I pray that I may function on a spiritual plane as well as on a material plane.

NEW ELEMENT DISCOVERED!
March 19, 2008 | Funny | Comments [3]
A Press Release from the Office of Beth Rohrbach, Our Family’s Only Remaining Federal Employee:
Research has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neuron, 25 assistant neurons, 88 deputy neurons, and 198 assistant deputy neurons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete.
Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; it does not decay, But instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neurons and deputy neurons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neurons, forming isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governm entium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Julie, Jordan took my book
March 18, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Well, I finally checked out “Twilight” from the library, but before I could read it, Jordan stole it from me. She had heard it was good. Then she lent(?) it to her friend to read because she had been wanting it. I finally got it back AFTER it was due, but luckly i was able to check it out again. So, i read it Saturday and Sunday, “New Moon” on Monday and Tuesday (actually I listened to most of it at work on Audiobook), and will listen to “Eclipse” tomorrow at work.(the best part about working again part-time) I liked them alot at first, but I am starting to get annoyed with the “who loves who the most” conversations. Jordan is jeolous that I have passed her, but it is really her fault because she has discovered YouTube and Anime Fanfiction. I try to monitor that because I think some of it gets pretty bad, but that is a whole other subject. She turns 12 Thursday.

I am getting old
March 18, 2008 | Uncategorized | Comments [7]
The other day this guy pulled up with 3 mexicans and got 200 bails of wheat straw. I went out and unlocked the trailer but I didn’t want to go in since I had seen a rat in there, so the guy and the mexicans got the bails while I counted . The guy was my age and could speak spanish to the mexicans, so later when he came back for the rest we got to talking and I asked him how he knew spanish. He said he lived in Venuzuela for awhile. I said thats interesting, my brother lived in Uruguay for awhile and he knows spanish. I told him my brother had been a missonary there. He said he had been a missionary in Venuzuela, and then he said . “What religion is your brother ?”and I said “LDS”, and he said “Me too”, I am Lanny Smart, Stake President., of the Bessemer Stake. I said “Oh, your my Stake President”. “I never see you so I didn’t know what you looked like. “He said “I know your Brother Buddy”. I said “Yes” , seems like everyone always does. He asked how Buddy’s back was doing ???” Anyway, He is my age!!!!I must really be getting old when the Stake President is my age!!!

What a dreary day!
March 17, 2008 | Whining | Comments [6]
My favorite category–whining! Ben doesn’t let me whine to him, so I’ll look for some sympathy from you peoples! It was the coldest, darkest, rainy St. Patty’s day today. And that made the stress of the day even worse. Little Benny woke up three times last night and Lily has a bad cold, so they were uber-cranky! Then I thought my washer wasn’t draining and had to wring out my towels by hand. Plus our electricity is going beserk and I waited all day for the electric guy and he never came.
But as always, a sweet ending to the day, as we sang primary songs together. I wish you could see little Ben “roll his hands” and do the “snowman” song. It’s priceless. And then Lily sang “the wise man and the foolish man.” It’s amazing how five minutes can turn your whole day around.
Please check out my comment on the reunion.
A Song I Recorded – Genesis’ “Blood On The Rooftops”
March 15, 2008 | Self-Kudos | Comments [7]
I’ve been fooling around with my home studio a bit (i.e. mostly spending money to little actual effect). I did figure out how to make a sort of “one-man band” arrangement of THIS OLD SONG BY GENESIS. ALL of the instruments are done using the computer and a program called “Live”; the vocals, such as they are, are by me. I’m actually pleased despite the rough nature, because I was able to get everything synchronized pretty well. Also, the “vocal harmony” was just ad lib
Funzies!
Climb every Mountain
March 15, 2008 | Nostalgia | No Comments
climb-ev-ry-mountain.mp3 Mtc This song doesn’t fit the theme for the month, in case you haven’t figured out the theme is Christ and Easter, but I thought this might persuade everyone to want to go to Oak Mountain. Not quite the Mountains in Austria is sings about, but we can pretend. Click on the picture and you can see that now it is after Dusk and the lights of Birmingham are starting to light up. Looks kinda like Christmas. I don’t see this view except in the Winter, because the leaves are off the trees.
