song on tim

does not matter buddy how long ago it was. I don’t remember alot of things in the past, but sometimes things just stick to you and you always remember them. You have to remember yourself, you are a very dear and sweet person, you have touched alot of lives in your time here on earth. Whether you or other individuals know it, everyday in their lives their actions do touch other people (bad or good) Hasn’t there been things in your past that you just don’t forget? all I know is that song, though I don’t remember the words to it, touch me at that young of an age. I always will remember you singing it and I cried everytime. if you can, try to remember it, I would love to hear you sing it again.

  2. Buddy, I am so glad that your young siser wrote that about you. I believe you took her well-marked scriptures with you on your mission, didn’t you?
Brenda is right, exactly, in stating that you are a dear and sweet person that has touched many lives, and in your case, for the good mostly, and seldom for the bad. I know that, even to this very day, if I run across some of the older members of the church, and your name is mentioned, they always express their good feelings, or even their love for you. I remember old Sister Hill saying to me, every time she talked to me, “I just love your Buddy.” You were always pleasant and cordial to all of the older members of the church. They appreciated that. And you definitely have touched many lives for the good, including your own family, and certainly your children, who love you dearly.
That song that you wrote made a whole school of children cry, and may have made some of them think twice before they touched drugs that would cause them to go so far as to cost them their lives. Try hard to remember the words.

  3. It has been 36 years since I wrote that song. What does a 12-13 year old remember?
    I have the worst memory.
I can’t even remember Tim’s last name, the chord progression, the melody…. all I remember is the first verse:

    All alone without a thought
Except for one I thought I knew
Tim please tell me if I ought…
    not cry for you

You had your good times and your bad
You had things you’d like to do
But, now you’ve made the people sad…
    you got them blue

Every now and then we’ll cry
    When we think of you
But, for now a brief goodbye…
    we’ll be with you soon.

  4. That’s a pretty good memory, Bud! And even if it’s just the one verse, it pretty much says it all. So, if you can come up with one of your tunes to go with the lyrics, you could still sing it for us. I don’t remember what musical accompaniment you had with this??? Did you play the guitar? I didn’t know you were plucking that young? just where did you get a guitar?? Were you playing on the piano then??? I am convinced now that I have no idea what any of you kids were doing.

Brenda, you’re a genius! That should, in my opinion, be the theme of the Reunion: Each Life That Touches Ours For Good. I say this, because of course our rather large family has touched, and been touched by, a great many people (you can’t escape the sheer volume of people we’re talking about here).

These are the words from one of the LDS Hymns, titled “Each Life That Touches Ours For Good”:

Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord.
    Thou sendest blessings from above
Through words and deeds of those who love.

What greater gift dost thou bestow,
What greater goodness can we know
Than Christ-like friends, whose gentle ways
Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.

When such a friend from us departs
We hold forever in our hearts
    A sweet and hallowed memory,
Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.

For worthy friends whose lives proclaim
    Devotion to the Savior’s name,
Who bless our days with peace and love,
We praise thy goodness Lord above.

  6. BILL, WHAT A GREAT IDEA!! Something is buzzing around in my head now, if I can just get it all together. I realize we have a few months, but i want to make a real, sure enough invitation to the reunion. Brenda’s insight into one of Buddy’s wonderful traits, that is “touching other’s lives for the good” , and your idea, Bill, to have it as the theme of the reunion, is just perfect. I would like to start with that, and then begin telling in detail all of the sights we can see, the talent show that we plan to have, the wonderful lodging,
the handy restaurant, the swimming pool, a ball field, picnic areas, and pavillions where we can have an outdoor barbecue if we want to go to the trouble. That, and much more. Also, the T-shirts that I need to push Carmen about. So much to do. So, you see, a lot of details to iron out before I can actually send out such an invitation. Meanwhile, I’m going to try to dazzle Leah, and Seay and Hillary with some of this. I know a jam session with Bud and his Dad will perk Seay’s ears up.

  7. Bill you must have great eyes.! I read that in this months Ensign, but I couldn’t read the words to the song even with glasses on.
