More Reunion stuff

OK, I’ll throw in my rough idea for a package though I’m not able to tune the finer details yet.
Apologies to Lainie and Bill, but I’m very wary of the Cabin’s due to the large amount of effort it seems it would take to either a: get/sneak people in. b: coordinate activities from that location. I think the ONLY way I see the cabins working is to make sure everyone can have/share one. I don’t see that happening so I’m not seeing an advantage to cabins.
BUT, I really like all of the activities available in the park. Swimming, boating and fishing especially.
So this is what I propose. again, I’ll have to look up prices etc later:
Dates: July 27 Sun – August 2 Sat
We all stay (those of us who need to) in a hotel, something reasonably nice with a pool and a conference room. Most Hotels have them specifically for large gatherings.
Sunday – Arriving and settling in. Dinner together depending on opportunities and arrangement ie: availability of kitchens, etc etc.
Monday – Beach/Park fun! Dinner at Brenda’s
Tuesday – Talent Show at Civic Center/Local church building (whatever works). Dinner at Beth’s
Wednesday – Pagan/Polhemus softball game – winner take all! Dinner at Buddy’s!
Thursday – Free day. Revisit the park. Rest, relax, enjoy somebodies company. Dinner at restaurant – preferably buffet ![]()
Friday – Pagan/Polhemus slide show/lunch in conference room followed by “My favorite memories” presentation by Pagan/Polhemus kids plus anyone else who would like to say something. Final words by Elaine and Luis M. Pagan.
Friday Evening: free time together. Provide own dinner.
Saturday: Pack up and leave as you will. Final goodbyes.
That is a ROUGH idea of what I think would work. Breakfast’s are usually provided at Holiday Inn’s and other similiar Hotels. Lunches would have to be taken care of individually or helped out by those local family members who might be willing to help.
Dinner’s I think we would want to spend together and I apologize for volunteering Brenda, Beth and Buddy but it would help to keep cost down and split the responsibility. It is, of course, not written in stone.
Somebody would have to follow up and figure out details like the catered lunch, restaurant and softball field. Some calls around would help us determine prices and availability.
Without having figures, I would give, loosely, a rough estimate of around $500 each to cover food, hotel and activities from each of us – 9 children/mom & dad. That doesn’t include gas.
That would provide $5,000 dollars to make this happen. If we can all agree on the schedule of events we could a: give the money to Beth/Brenda and help them arrange everything or b: use our own money as needed (considering the variable number of children we all have ie: Maria’s personnel expense will be less than mine since she’s barren
hee-hee) but providing funds ahead of time for dinners provided by family members (come up with menu and prices).
Tweek this a little as needed. If we’re agreed on the date, the next thing to do is get as solid a count as possible on who’s coming. Mom, call Tony and find out if he’s willing to commit. Chris and his wife? Alex and his family? etc etc.
Those are my thoughts. Though I’ll go with what works.

Ben I went around to all the motels yesterday around Oak Mountain and the two best were a)Holiday Inn and b) Hampton Inn. However after talking with both Motels, hampton is 130$ a night and Holiday Inn is 99$. Holiday Inn pool is inside, Hampton outside. The Pelham Civic center with Ice Skating Rink is behind the Holiday Inn. The Oak Mountain Ampitheater is behind the Holiday Inn (So there may be an outdoor concert that week). I talked to the Pelham Civic Center. It is $250. to rent the Banquet room and the Culinard Cooking School automatically caters this. I posted the number for the Pelham Civic Center as well. I kept trying to figure out who had a big Backyard for a BBQ and Volleyball (Or softball) and I forgot Buddy’s backyard is HUGE. It is perfect for a BBQ and sports. I think the money you mentioned is reasonable. Although I think Maria should pay $1000
See posts below for numbers to Holiday Inn express. I can find out what concert at the Ampitheatre is going on that week. If we decide to rent a Pavillion at Oak Mountain for a Lunch as well, its $80, and we could all bring something and they are next to the Beach. Oh, by the way, Holiday Inn does have a conference room, I checked into that yesterday as well. Nice ideas, and thanks for giving a ball park figure on money. I still wish everyone would send me $5.oo per person and let me get t-shirts made and we could get a big group picture made with these on, which would be a priceless picture.

One of the pictures I posted is of a Pavillion and you see there is a big grill next to it. I still like the Cabin Idea for Mom and Dad as it is so beautiful there and I really think you and Mom and Bill would love it. I know Julie would!! I don’t think it is too hard to get in and out. I think Bill was right about that. If you look at my pictures of the Cabin area you can see how beautiful it is, very serene and peaceful. It cost the same as Holiday Inn, 99$ a night. You could move to Holiday Inn after 3 days.

Wow, that’s…that’s actually pretty good!
Are you SURE Julie didn’t ghost-write that?
