update on reunion

Bill and Carmen say that last week in July is fine with them.
Thank you Bill, I finally read your comments this morning. I didn’t see them last night.
I also see that Nancy has been checking up on Oak Mountain.
Lainie, i have no objection at all to Oak Mountain Cabins IF THEY HAVE AIR CONDITIONING. That’s the only objection.
Also, motels have pools, and of course the cool rooms……and TV….if you really want to waste your time with that, but it might be better to get away from the TV. A place where we can’t have it, so we can occupy our time with other pursuits, like CONVERSATION, or actually paying attention to the children, and playing with them. i remember the last time i took Ben and Maria to Oak Mountain swimming. I think I could dig up a photograph. It was fun. There was a little beach, but the sand was old yellow course stuff. However, I found out later that there was a beach with fluffy white sand, and I actually SAW IT where people that resided in cabins had access to. That was only 24 years ago.
Yipes! Time to dress for church.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! WE LOVE YOU!

Oak mountains cabins do have central heat and air, no TV, and there is no pool.. I would like to just make oak mountain a day trip and do the hotel thing just because I know the kids will probably like to have a pool more than anything..I liked Lainie’s idea about making an itinerary(sp) and doing a bunch of different things, (ice skating, swimming, oak mountain, movies, restaurants, etc)..Thats just my opinion though, anyone else?

I like that idea, Crystal. Luis checked up on cabins at Oak Mountain, however, if anyone wants to go there. One cabin has a king sized bed, that will sleep three, and then three singles that will sleep three more…..$280 for Three nights. I think weekend and Monday? I’m not sure.
Anyway. My choice is still a motel close to Oak Mountain where there is a lot of entertainments that you mentioned for young and old. Bill and you and Ben and Ben and Beth and your Mom have kids that might like to go ice skating. If Uncle Alex (my brother)comes. His grandchildren are five and two.
Beth has just called me with an idea about Guntersville, and a place on a lake there that she and Paul just took the kids to over AEA where they had a lot of fun. I don’t know how anybody would feel about going out of town. Carmen rejected it immedeately. I think I would only like to be in Birmingham. What do you think? Anybody? We have to hurry with our decisions, if it involves renting cabins. Motels are no problem. Then Brenda has volenteered to get busy with organizing some activities. A dinner would be easy to do if we merely invade somewhere like a (?) I’ve forgotten the name of them. Luis and I used to go on Fridays when we lived in Bham. Of course, an invasion of about thirty adults and forty children is a lot. Dearest Pop and Mimi…are you listening? And Daddy Mac and Mama Mac….We salute you, too.

There are about 5 motels right there by Oak Mountain. Travel lodge, Ramada, Holiday Inn etc. Why not those who want Cabins get Cabins and the rest Motels , that way the ones in the Motels can go straight to Oak Mountain during the day and have a place to gather (Camp Site ). I think renting a banquet room next door at the skating rink for dinner Friday night would be good. We could either have it catered by a BBQ place or everyone could bring something. (Those traveling can just stop in a grocery store and grab the cold stuff , paper stuff and drink stuff. I still say $5.00 a piece for T-shirts and I can be in charge of those.

If we could get a count on Cabins we could go ahead and try to reserve them.

Their are around 54 people at the most that I can think of.

Is that how many will want to stay in the cabins, Lainie? Beth wants a Motel, because of the pool for the boys. That’s the same with Carmen. They prefer a pool for them and the girls, because they want a pool, a nice cool room, a relaxing time by the TV before naps, and then they can take advantaage of the folks that want cabins by invading on them in their privacy. For instance, Lainie, if you can persuade enough people for you to get six in a cabin, luis said it costs about $280 for three days. Nancy might be interested. They might like to stay for a whole week. It would be cheaper, and lots and lots of things for the boys and girl to do, and room to run, and their cousins in the motels could go over and share time with them and vice versa, etc. and so on.
Talk with Nancy.

No, 54 people in all at the reunion. If their are more I can’t think of it. I am off work today, I am going to Oak Mountain to take pictures,I will see what I can find out. Its kinda late so alot of Cabins may already be reserved. I will try and find out prices for the motels as well. Maria liked the cabin idea, as did Nancy and Julie (I don’t know about Ben).
