What a dreary day!
March 17, 2008 | Whining
My favorite category–whining! Ben doesn’t let me whine to him, so I’ll look for some sympathy from you peoples! It was the coldest, darkest, rainy St. Patty’s day today. And that made the stress of the day even worse. Little Benny woke up three times last night and Lily has a bad cold, so they were uber-cranky! Then I thought my washer wasn’t draining and had to wring out my towels by hand. Plus our electricity is going beserk and I waited all day for the electric guy and he never came.
But as always, a sweet ending to the day, as we sang primary songs together. I wish you could see little Ben “roll his hands” and do the “snowman” song. It’s priceless. And then Lily sang “the wise man and the foolish man.” It’s amazing how five minutes can turn your whole day around.
Please check out my comment on the reunion.

Oh, Julie, you’re so “Mormon!”
You know that “other Julie” would be SOOOOO proud of you!
(P.S. So am I).

Why doesn’t my son let you whine to him, Julie? That’s part of his job as your husband. Hasn’t he learned that yet? I know he’s heard that many times over in some of his Priesthood lessons. What does he do? Try to tell you what you “should” be doing to “rectify” the situation. Don’t men ever learn that ALL WE WANT is for them to put their arms around us, pull us close, and say something to the effect of “Oh, honey, I’m sorry you had such a hard day. I can’t imagine how it must be for you sometimes to have so much to handle, but you do it so well. Don’t worry so much. it’s really okay.”
And then he kisses you, and asks you what he can do to help, and then you melt all over the floor, and you are definitely his for eternity. Don’t THEY KNOW THAT!!!???
Where is that boy of mine? I’m going to give him such a talking-too!!!

And by the way. You really did handle it beautifully, and those two babies are just worth every bit of the time and trouble and effort that you put into taking care of their little souls.
Carmen gets exhausted around here sometimes. Today, we were at the temple all day, and Carmen said that Teyla followed her everywhere. She went down for a nap, but if Carmen moved to get up out of the bed, Teyla got up. She couldn’t figure out how Teyla knew she was getting up…because she was asleep.
