A Song I Recorded - Genesis’ “Blood On The Rooftops”
March 15, 2008 | Self-Kudos
I’ve been fooling around with my home studio a bit (i.e. mostly spending money to little actual effect). I did figure out how to make a sort of “one-man band” arrangement of THIS OLD SONG BY GENESIS. ALL of the instruments are done using the computer and a program called “Live”; the vocals, such as they are, are by me. I’m actually pleased despite the rough nature, because I was able to get everything synchronized pretty well. Also, the “vocal harmony” was just ad lib
Funzies!

Bill,
That’s great… so many nice layers. I especially liked the harmony:)

Bill!!? You’ve got to be kidding me!!?? If my kids surprise me much more, I’m just going to swoon over and ask somebody to put the lily in my hand.

I wish I could hear it Bill, but the sound doesn’t work in my computer

MOM: It’s REALLY not that big a deal, as I’m sure Buddy could tell you. It was more manipulating computer software than anything else, except knowing how to turn the mic on. Yeah, I guess I get credit for the vocals (which aren’t exactly stellar, but hey, it was one take!)
LAINIE: How are you posting all these MP3s, if you’re not able to listen to any of them? :-/

I was listening to them and then the other day, my sound went off. The ones I have posted since then I had already listened to before I purchased them. I have to go back and post reruns for a while till I can get my sound fixed. I bought new speakers but that wasn’t the problem. I post these so that if people are doing geneology or looking for one of us in the family and stumble on our site, it is a missionary tool.

Did your sound go off “suddenly” or did it work one time, then later when you tried to listen, it DID’NT work? Did you try the new speakers AFTER it stopped working, or did it stop working after you put the new speakers in?
Don’t assume it’s always a hardware problem. If you’re using Windows, it could be related to changed settings.

It went off, so I bought new speakers to fix it and it still didn’t work. At least you gave me a point to start at. I am off work tomorrow for the first time in 7 days , so I am going to unplug everything on my computer and redo it and I will check the settings as well.
