ReUnIoN!!
March 13, 2008 | Uncategorized
Hello, I am about to pull a date out of my $%^ for the reunion and we can make plans on our own as to where to stay etc. i think the most important part is the date so people can ask off work and save money to go. i am really looking forward to seeing everyone and hope everyone shows up, but if not that’s ok. Mom and DAd really need this and we have so much FUN TOGETHER!
So, someone plan something. Let me know if there are any dates that DO NOT WORK and I will be back in a few days with a date.
JULIE, the pictures were great! Ben, you are looking good. Maybe between you and the idea of a reunion i will get some motivation to loose weight myself. my brain and body do not react in unison. i think i don’t want the cookie but my hand just picks it up and puts it in my mouth.
That is the most beautiful picture of lily! you should definatly blow it up.

I can’t do it because I can’t use my phone, I can’t afford the minutes, call Beth she has the clout.

I’m gonna suggest sometime in late August. August 21st is our 10th Anniversary. Kinda symmetrical.

Oh yeah, thanks for the compliments Carmen. Lily is indeed cute. So cute she’s dangerous.
And as for the weight, do what I did, use drugs!!!
Ahhh, wonderful substitute for “will” drugs.

VERY FUNNY MARIA. You imagined the blind panic as you wrote this, didn’t you. well, if you leave it up to me everyone can send me money and we will all be staying at beths house.

Very good, the last three kids are pitching in. I tell you what. I am off work next Wed. I need to take some pictures out at Oak Mountain, while I am there I can check into their camp grounds. They have campgrounds with Cabins too. Mom, thinks I meant a pup tent. But, if we go to Oak Mountain, there is fishing, swimming, hiking, paddle boating, bikeing ….I can think of anymore. Thats how I stayed skinny Ben when I was young, drugs… It only cost me $200 dollars a week. It was the “Minerva diet plan” (she was my drug dealer, a 90 year old black lady.)

Ben has suggested a DATE!! At last! Someone has mentioned a date. What do you say, all. How about let’s go with it. The date of the reunion will be August…no…Carmen just came in and said that jordan’s school, and possibly other children’s school may have started by August 21st. How about August 14th. Everybody take out your planner, and look at August 14th. What about arriving in Birmingham on August 14th and “alighting” at the place where you will stay. I prefer a motel, where everyone will be together. Motels have pools for the delights of the children, and beds and TVs for taking naps.
Lainie is taking a look at oak Mountain. Who likes that idea? Please oh Please horn in with your ideas.
Beth? Brenda? Where are you? Crystal, where are you and where are they, and what happened to Buddy?

I think August 14 is great! That is the weekend I have Bailey. I think you would like the cabins at Oak Mountain Mom. that would put everybody together and we could be in nature. They are comfortable. Also, we could rent 6 cabins together, and bring tents too. the kids would love staying in tents and so would I. Also, I think we should get t-shirts made, with “Pagan-Polhemus 2008 Reunion” written on them. They are not expensive. Also, we could charge $100.oo per family to start with, I would put in $100 for Casey , Bailey and I .With 9 families (Maria could be with you and Dad) that is $900.00. WE could get food from Sam’s or Coscos. Bill 100, Buddy 100, Me 100, Beth 100, Brenda 100, Tony 100, Carmen 100 , Ben 100 and You 100. Then as it grows near we can figure out if we need alittle more money. If people stayed in Motels it would be more expensive anyway. So this should at least get people thinking. I will check into the information on Oak Mountain.

Okay. Carmen and I conferred. No Oak Mountain, Lainie. You are definately the only outdoorswoman in the group. I don’t know about the men. We just have to settle on the date, and I still say August 14th. After that, we choose the site, preferable a nice, cool, motel. People just have to say yea or nea, and we’re not getting any response. Why is that? Lack of PERSON IN CHARGE.
Who wants the respnsibility? (sigh) Less than five months until August 14th.

I vote for a motel as well – sorry Lainie. I suggest we do it at or around the 1048 Sunset Blvd address. That way we’ll be close to a point where we all lived. As for activities, let’s face it, when vacationing, we’re all pretty heavily couch potato oriented. at least if we’re in familiar territory we won’t get lost looking for things to do.
Other suggestions would be somewhere around Brenda or Beth’s house.

Ben, that area is kinda dangerous now. Beth’s area is the safest and right by Galleria and probably some more parks around there.

Sorry, I got in late on this, but Lily starts school on Aug. 18, so we’d have to leave on Saturday and that’s still cutting it kind of close. I would prefer a weekend earlier in August. And Lainie, I like the outdoors stuff too, so we’ll think of something active to do.:)
much love, Julie

Motels South of the Galleria and near Oak Mountain are inexpensive. That would make it easily accessible by Brenda and Lainie off 459. Beth and I down 31. Dad-Mom/Tony/Carmen/Maria up 65, Bill from 20-59 to 459, Ben-Julie down 65. We can head to Oak Mountain for a Volleyball/Softball Game/Beach Party/ Paddle Boats or for a picnic. There is also a GREAT petting zoo and Horseback riding for those adventurous enough. The Pelham Ice Lodge is right by Oak Mountain for Ice Skating. Across the street from the Ice Lodge and up near the Galleria is a Bowling Alley, Movie Theaters by the Mall, at least 100 restaurants and a part of a juniper tree:)

lainie, i liked the oak mountain idea, but i guess we’ll have to settle for near oak mountain.

Buddy and Maria, that is exactly what I was thinking today. There is a “Holiday Inn” right up from Oak Mountain with an indoor pool and actually other Motels like Buddy said around there. We could rent a “Gazebo” for Saturday at Oak Mountain (Where Dad and Sara got married). There is a lake there, and we could cook out and do what ever y’all want. The Pelham Civic center is right there , next to Holiday Imm, there is an Ice skating rink and you can rent a banquet room. We could also, hold a banquet room at the Holiday Inn, if we wanted a Banquet Friday or Saturday night. I am still up for the T-shirts, they wouldn’t cost much and with all the talent in the family someone could design a good one. I could even drive down to Alex City and pick them up. So really the money would be for maybe say “Party room catered at Pelham civic center Friday night with games and Ice skating, Saturday Oak Mountain Gazebo, fishing , vollyball, softball , etc. Ideas are starting to flow, and move it up to August 8,9 and 10

I think around oak mountain is perfect. there is plenty to do there. i am not opposed to some outdoor stuff, just don’t want to live in it for 3-7 days.
maybe someone could check the dates at some hotels around there and get some prices and that will help set a date and book some rooms. someone that lives there and knows which hotels are perfect to look into.
i figure jordan school starts some time in august also, so earlier august or late july is fine with me
