My job

Well it seems Pikes is being bought by an individual, our wholesale is great but the retail is not, we lose too much inventory. People who want retail can come in and order unusual plants , that s the only way I can think not to lose money, so…. they won’t be hiring me back as they only need wholesale salesman now and they have plenty of those. So…Home Depot offered me a job with a $2 raise starting out, only problem is they do a background check. They had me take a drug test immediately which I am not worried about. thats fine but my credit is really bad from the past , way back from 2001-2003 and I am scared that may mess me up, they are supposed to call me back today and let me know. I am nervous.

Don’t be nervous Lainie. Background checks are for felonies and Fraud. If it were a bank, your credit rating may come up but, not at a Home Depot:)

I hope you are right buddy, I called the manager today and he said of course my drug test was fine but he won’t know about the background check till tomorrow. I hope your right

Buddy’s right. If you were applying for a teller position – where they don’t even let you have more than a single NSF check in a year’s time – or some other position where you’d be liable to extortion, etc., that’d be one thing.
Sad thing is, with our overly-extended credit society now, the majority of people have “blemishes” and “blotches” on their credit. Look at the mortgage foreclosure debacle.
The prophets tell us to “live within our means.” Maybe we oughta listen (and I’m looking in the mirror).

Lainie, it’s 9:30 in Birmingham. I decided to give you a call. You didn’t answer. I left a message, so you might be working on a waitress job somewhere. It seems forever since I talked to you.
Bill, we definitely should listen to the prophets about living within our means. I had better go look in the mirror, too. I could have done without the teeth that I just had put in my lower jaw. Also, I didn’t need to buy lunch today, and our water is blood red. We had to buy a new water pump. Couldn’t get out of it. All of the business with the new pump was a fortune. Then the air conditioner broke down last July, and that was to the tune of $6,000. I almost died on the one day without air, because I didn’t have my medicine, and had to go to a motel. Did I have to? Luis was in Puerto Rico at his Niece’s wedding. Did he have to go? What was the answer? Could it be that if we had saved money up, instead of spending a little here or there???
Celestial Kingdom. I’m so glad that we’re not exprected to make it to perfection here in this life. It will be an ongoing process for zillions of years.

Yes I got the job, I start today, mostly just paperwork today and then Orientation for 8 hours Sat and 8 hours friday. I am glad to be working again. My body is used to walking at least 12 miles a day at my job and I weighed this morning and had gained 10lbs. since not working , even though I get on the tread mill 3 times a week it doesn’t amount to 12 miles a day. I went to weight watchers a few weeks ago since I am a lifetime member but you pay $12 a month and I had to write a check and it didin’t got through for two weeks so it bounced twice and then it was payed so that cost me
$90 so I can’t afford weight watchers. Anyway, I am glad to be back to work but was very depressed when I got on the scales this morning, I haven’t weighed that much in 5 years. I also filed my taxes and since I owe on state after receiving my taxes I end up with $250.00, that s it. I guess thats better then nothing. Casey called Joe’s wife yesterday and told her she passed her GED , so she will start taking classes at Darton College here pretty soon. Her grandfather called me and asked me not to give her number to any of her old friends?????? Come on, I am the one that saved her life, why would I sabotage it. Her grandparents still try to leave me out of everything, at christmas the told me the councilors didn’t want me at the 9:00 a.m. meeting , just them and Joe and Kelly, so I got there at 10:00 and then the councilor asked me where I had been since I was suppose to be there, just another way for Casey’s grandparents to try and leave me out, the only problem now is that I am the one who saved her when no one else could and so they reluctantly have to allow me to be a part of it.

Great, er, “job” Lainie! I think HD’s probably a pretty good place to work.
As for all the Casey stuff, don’t let ‘em yank your chain. You know, you’re usually not so easy to rile up so don’t let ‘em.
Casey’s not a child anymore, it’s up to her whether she wants to have a relationship with you or not; the Robbinses no longer have much to say about that.
It is ironic that when Casey was too much to handle, they were glad to let you step in, but now that she might be on the mend they’re acting like **** again.
Just let it roll off your back like water off a duck’s. They have nothing to do with you or your life.
