TEN DAY TRIP.!!!!!!!
November 4, 2007 | Travels | No Comments
Hello everyone who checks our site. Your mother and I had a good trip. It was good to visit with you and spend some time in your company. We spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at Beth & Paul’s house. Brenda and Darrell crew came and visit with us at Beth & Paul’s house. We had a good time visiting there. We also saw a soccer game where Dillon’s team play, and taugh his team lost, he insisted that his team won, and he would not discuss it. He is a winner. We left early Monday morning (5:30 AM ), before the heavy traffic hit Alkadelphia road, or Hwy. 78 to Memphis. We did good getting out Birmingham early, but it took a while to get to Memphis and Hwy 40 west to Fort Smith Arkansas, where we took 540 north to Joplin, Missouri. Remember that all this time we were pulling the Dodge, Dynasty to Missouri. We got to Ben & Juli’s house about seven that evening, without any proplems pulling the Dodge. We took the Dodge of the dolly, and drove the Lincoln around the block going thru an unpaved road with gully whases. Next day, again we went thru the dirt road to take the dolly to the U-haul store; there the attendant came and unhitch the dolly from the ball of the car, and took it away. I bent down to take the bar and the ball of the car to put it inside the trunk, but I couldn’t find the pin nor the safety pin that holds the bar in place and prevent it from sliding out of the mount. I told Ben to look under and check for it. He did it but he saw nothing and told me about it, and then he preceded to pull the bar with the ball out, I was surprised in disbelief that the pins were missing. I really do not know when the pins came out. Thanks the Lord that we did not have an accident, because of it. We spent Tuesday, and Wednesday at Joplin, we had a good time at Bens House with them. We left Thursday morning, and got to Bill & Nancy’s house with plenty of daylight left. We had a good time there, and went to see the Astros play the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta won the Friday game and lost the Saturday game. On Saturday we went to the Chapel and Isaah was baptized into the church. It was a real spiritual service, Mother gave the opening prayer and I gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. After the service we went to The Red Lobster and ate lunch. Later on we went on to the baseball game. I take about an hour to get to the baseball park from Bill’s house. and the volume of traffic is like driving on 459 durind rush hour in the morning, or worse yet the intersection of 59 and 65 in Birmingham. During all the seating at the baseball park and driving to it, it is easy for your bodily functions to stop working the way they are suppose to work., but above all we had a good time seeing you all again. We left Katy, Texas the first Monday in October and stop in Biloxi, Mississippi, for the night and arrived home about seven P.M. THANK YOU ALL for the present for our wedding anniversay, may your children do the same to you in your OLD AGE. Ha. ha.. ha. next time send enough money for the labor too, just kidding. No really, thank you for your kindness and love. I did not wait to long to get it done. I started on Monday of this past week and finished Friday night putting the floor down, taking Tuesday off to go and work at the Temple. This Saturday I finished putting the base boards around the walls. Your mother loves it. Take care, Love Dad

I bought a blood testing kit and have tested several mornings and it has been around 90. I think i only tested high because i had just had a rootbeer float. Anyway , i have cut down on carbs, sugar and fat and am trying to lose weight. it is just so hard because i get so hungry. i walk 12 miles a day at work everyday, and that really makes me hungry. (I know, I wore a pedometer for several days to check. I will still keep checking just to be safe.
OUR FLOORING IS BEAUTIFUL

Thanks to Carmen who got the ball rolling, and all of you who contributed, and most of all to my wonderful, talented husband, who spent three days of back-breaking labor putting down our living-room hard wood floor. We picked out the hard wood rather than the laminate. The color that we liked was better in hard wood, and the slats, or slabs, or whatever you call them linked together nicely. Of course, your Dad did a terrific job, as he always does. I just can’t quit looking at it. We’re inspired to move the furniture around. I really didn’t think it could go but one way, but I think it can go another. We’re going to have fun trying it a different way. The bay window had the TV set in front of it, and that wasn’t a good idea at all. We moved it to the corner, but we really need a small corner entertainment center, or at the least, something better than our glass coffee table (which it now sits on). Ah, the material things of life!! It’s just that I love to decorate, if only I knew how!!! The bay window is now free for the Christmas tree, and Dad bought blinds today, which we’ve needed all along. They had to be cut to size. Bill, we’re excited to have you and Nancy coming to take a look-see at the floor.
AND, to spend Merry Christmas with us.

My beloved father, and grandfather to all of you, and great-grandfather to your children who never knew him, died twenty-eight years ago November 1st. I haven’t stopped crying. Even now, I can hardly write this. The mere thought of my parents sends causes the tears to literally fall like rain. I miss them so much, especially this past year, and most especially my mother. She’s been gone for forty-eight years. I can hardly bear it, and will stop writing. The tears are splashing everywhere. I want to see her so much that I purely ache all over.

This post is for Bill and Lainie. I was in the kitchen washing dishes and minding my own business, and I very suddenly thought about Josie Lovelace Polhemus, your stepmother, who died 43 years ago! Think seriously of doing her ordinance work. With the new system, you must be able to show a familial connection, and you can easily show that she was your stepmother. Think about it and pray about it. You must get permission from little Josie.

Mom, did you and Dad receive your initial issue of Alabama Heritage magazine yet? I got it for you guys as a little gift, I thought it looked like a great publication.
We both love history, after all, and the down-home history of the state we lived in the longest is pretty fascinating.
DIABETICS BEWARE

Bill is so right. Bill, I’m glad to here that you are on insulin (in a way). I know you were really having trouble when we were out in Texas because you couldn’t get your sugar down below 200. Lainie now reports that someone tested her, and it was 207!! I tested her once and she was 167. She needs to get on a diet. She needs a doctor, but I don’t know if she can go to a clinic. Lainie, I know you’re reading this, but I also know that you know how to diet. My sugar stays in line, because I pretty much stay on a good diet. My apetite isn’t very big. Carmen is going to get going on a good diet, I know I can help her. I worry about everybody.
BEN!! Cut it out!! You have a family to raise. They need you!
BUD!! Same thing!! Take care of your health, please. Let me see. who else?
Brenda is practically living on starvation row, and can’t lose an ounce of weight because of the thyroid problems she’s had since she had most of her’s removed. Brenda, do you read us?
Where is everybody?
I love you all, and I don’t want to outlive any of you.
