BOOM! BOOM! WOW!

November 8, 2007 | Uncategorized

We are in the perfect spot for seeing the rockets (and hearing their blasts as they take off), and then the sonic boom, and seeing them far in the distance as they then come toward our house(faraway of course) and curve, and then head toward Kennedy Space Center for landing.  We run back and forth from the front yard to the TV.

The Endeavor gave us the thrill today.  It excites Teyla to a meltdown.  A little three-year-old is observing something that her Nana only read about in Comic Books, and never dreamed would come true in her lifetime.

The weather was so beatiful, and just perfect for the landing.

The Sonic boom was loud and clear.

WOW!!

  2. But the sad thing is, Tayla is seeing the EXACT SAME spacecraft that was flying around in the exact same way as when her MOMMY was her age.

I think it’s sad how stagnant space exploration has become, but that’s the way it invariably will be when you have just another government program.

Maybe someday people will start exploring space FOR REAL, like I thought they would be when I was Tayla’s age. Maybe Tayla’s kids will see that.

  3. I didn’t realize you were so close to the space center. Thats pretty cool to me. i also liked that fact when i was in Houston, that I could drive so close to the space center when i would travel to Galveston.

  4. Bill, you are so right. We should have been traipsing around in another Galaxy by now. Good Grief! Men landed on the moon when you were just twelve years old!! But, of course, we musn’t dabble and spend all of our money with that. Think of all of the starving children in Africa, and all of the Government programs we need to drain the pockets of 30% of the Americans in order to haul around the other dependant 70% of Americans. What a dirty shame. (Hillary for President??)
