DIABETICS BEWARE
November 1, 2007 | Ad-MOM-ishments
Bill is so right. Bill, I’m glad to here that you are on insulin (in a way). I know you were really having trouble when we were out in Texas because you couldn’t get your sugar down below 200. Lainie now reports that someone tested her, and it was 207!! I tested her once and she was 167. She needs to get on a diet. She needs a doctor, but I don’t know if she can go to a clinic. Lainie, I know you’re reading this, but I also know that you know how to diet. My sugar stays in line, because I pretty much stay on a good diet. My apetite isn’t very big. Carmen is going to get going on a good diet, I know I can help her. I worry about everybody.
BEN!! Cut it out!! You have a family to raise. They need you!
BUD!! Same thing!! Take care of your health, please. Let me see. who else?
Brenda is practically living on starvation row, and can’t lose an ounce of weight because of the thyroid problems she’s had since she had most of her’s removed. Brenda, do you read us?
Where is everybody?
I love you all, and I don’t want to outlive any of you.
One Response to “DIABETICS BEWARE”
I’ll post some comments about my experience so far with the “Lantus SOLOstar” insulin injection pen later on.
It’s up to your doctor, but my pancreas are apparently no longer producing sufficient insulin so it was really the only choice I had. I’ve bought a couple of books by authors who claim they can “cure your diabets so you never have to take insulin again,” but in all honest, bad as it sounds, I just don’t have the will-power or even the desire to be SO stringent with my dietary regime line that!
I try to be sensible, eat lots of veggies and fruits (that last, within reason since you still have to worry about the sugar). But sometimes I “splurge” and have a McDonald’s baked apple pie (one of my favorite cheap but guilty pleasures).
I’m trying to educate myself about Glycemic Index, but I’ve got a ways to go. Among the variations on that theory, it’s really not a problem eating a normal amount of carbs so long as they are complex, whole grains, etc., with a tendency toward a slow introduction of glucose into your system.
“Moderation in all things.” I still think if we try to live the spirit of the Word of Wisdom, that’s the best we can do. We’re not supposed to live forever.
