I’ve thought about you all day

September 15, 2007 | Birthdays

I’ve literally lived all of the summer of 1957 over again. The time spent with my parents before flying up to Aberdeen (my first flight ever!). And then Bill playing softball with the guys every afternoon, while all the girls sat on the sidelines, and talked about babies, because we were all pregnant, except one.  And then of course, the trip to the hospital.  I tried to wake Bill up, but he said he was too sleepy to go have a baby.  I finally got him on his feet, but sent him home pretty soon, because he was so edgy.  Yes, it was quite a summer, and got me a wonderful gift.   Happy Birthday to my firstborn child.  I love you so very, very much.  Fifty years later, I love you fifty times more.

I don’t know where the rest of your siblings got off to.   If it wasn’t midnight, I’d call them up and give them a piece of my mind, and a piece is all I have left.  Thanks to Bud for remembering.

  2. All I can say is “thanks, Mom.”

And don’t worry about the “other guys,” they’ll come around. We’re all very, very busy, and there are varying levels of “know-ness” at play here s well.

After all, I’m fifty, and Maria’s thirty. Big gap.

    But I love you all.

  3. Small correction. Maria is 31 as of last April. Also, she didn’t stay in “some motel” She stayed in a very lovely large Hotel accomodations. Not any of us could take time off to go over and take advantage of a nice vacation with her, while she was in training in Tampa. She got back on Friday, with a pretty tan, but glad the week was over.
